A questions about small gaming stores like game crazy and game stop

i use game crazy alot i dont know if it is just a local store or how many people have heard of them but i have never had an issue with there games i also hear alot of people complain about game stop.

i was looking into trading in my psp and 12 games i have along with it along with some of my ps2 games and one of my ps2 memory cards

are there any other good trade gaming stores out there i want to get the best for my buck

would i be better off getting my ps3 from best buy or walmart and then getting games from a place like game crazy or game stop .

any advice would be awesome please thanks in advance

i bought my HDTV and my PS3 from best buy.
im not sure if you have a BEST BUY CC. or if they even still do this,
but i signed up for mine (in the store) and got interest free for 36 MONTHS!!!!
3 years no interest on my $1600 purchase as long as i make my payments on time!.
and my PS3 was already taken care of ... they have the different gig PS3's i think 40,80 and 120? im not even sure of the types.
but i got the top one for $430 and all the updates are done on it already and it is already set to play Blu-Ray DVD's
it's totally up to you.
i suggest the cheaper you can get it the better.
if BB has a 80g for $380 and the Game-Store (gamestop or whatever) has it for $375... get it there.
i got my XBOX360 from WalMArt (knock on wood....knock knock knock)
and have not yet had a RROD issue ...or any issue really. (just an FYI)

and i buy all my games from the gaming stores (gamestop) and once in a blue freakin moon WalMart

I would go to walmart and buy the PS3.
and then when you want 'cheap' games, Gamestop would be the better choice in my opinion. They have a large database of games there.

Fuck walmart. Today I went there during lunch and they wanted full price ($59.99) for NBA Live '07. They also wanted $49.00 for Xmen: The official movie game. Are they out of their minds?

I used a place called funcoland when I was a *** to trade in my super nintendo for a sega genisis. Lol, wow talk about old school. Anyway, now I use gamestop and haven't had any issues. They seem to have a better selection than game crazy, but then I've never really checked out game crazy so can't say for 100%

Yea, fuck walmart. I won't buy any games or accessories from there. I had a friend who pre-ordered Halo 3 back when that was released. He went the day of release and they didn't have any copies left. So I avoid wal-mart like the plaque for video game ****.

Best Buy is definantly the place to go for other electronic things like TV's and Surround sound type **** though! They are the most helpful when it comes to questions about that kind of ****!

I like to hit Gamestop when they are having their Buy 2 and get 1 Free Sales or when there is a really good sale going on. Hastings is a good place to watch to for those kind of sales but they are Buy 2 get 1 for a dollar. All that is on used games though. I usually like to wait for sales like that when I am buying games.

Walmart is a good walk through. Occasionally you will see a good mark down on some games on a reduced shelf but other then that, yeah I **** Walmart. Target has some good sales too but you got to watch for them in their weekly ads and usually they will have a limited stock. Best Buy is a last resort for me just because they are located in a bad area to pull in at.

Oh yeah, when buying a system, Best Buy is the better option because you can get their 2 year warranty just incase something happens and plus right now they are having that special bundle going on right now with the 80 GB system where you can get Metal Gear Solid 4 and Killzone 2 with it. That makes the price somewhat reasonable considering you are getting two great games with it.

You're best bet to get the most value is selling it online. Amazon typically offers more for games than Gamestop. I've already given my spiel on Gamestop, so bear with me if this is sounding like a broken record. Gamestop will rip you off every chance they get. I grant you, being a smart consumer can oftentimes save you from this predicament, however having worked there, I can't in good conscience recommend them.

SHAYD what's your spiel on gamestop? i never heard it.
you can PM me so not to take up a place in this thread

gamestop usually rips you off when you trade or sell games to them. your best bet is to try and sell it online like ebay if you can wait. as to where to get your ps 3, I would get it at best buy. they usually have good deals (eg, you can save a couple of hundred of dollars by buying a tv and ps 3)

I did not watch the video yet but I don't trade or sell my games. I keep them all and my old Nintendo and Super Nintendo games as well as Sega and 64 games are in a trunk with along with the old systems I have. The whole trading for store credit thing just screamed ripoff to me and so does selling games to Gamestop. So I never got into it although with me going into their stores quite abit, they try to sink their hooks into me to sell and trade as well as preorder. Which like I stated before, I usually wait till their Buy 2, get one free specials or for a super price drop to come.

Probably said already, but you should never trade any of your games to any video game store. Few months ago I went to Gamestop and wanted to see what I would get for one of my 360 game - they said they would buy it for $10 when they were selling a used one for #30. I asked him why this was the case and he pretend he didn't know a thing.

eBay and Amazon are a good place to sell your games. Check out Walmart, Best Buy and Target for prices. And see how much they warranty is.

You're absolutely right, they'll rip you off every chance they get. They get "trade-in" games for a pittance, and sell them for 150-600% markup. They're still selling Halo 3 for $40, and you can find the same game on the Internet for $20. For me, it's as simple as being an informed and smart consumer and buying from the people who save me money, and do business the right way.

The gamestop down the road from me wants $59.99 FOR DOA Xtreme 2. Outrageous.

That's odd, I bought that for $19.99 used from them last year.

That's another issue I have with Gamestop. They price games differently in different cities to basically exploit people who don't know how to shop for games intelligently. My ****** in law almost bought my nephew Halo 2 for his birthday last year for $40. I had a nice talk with her about it, and he ended up getting Halo 3 from the Target two blocks away for $45. Their idiocy never ceases to amaze me.

forget about buying games in stores, in this age of the internet , I use Amazon and Ebay for all my gaming needs, I never was a fan of gamestop, they have too many bad practices like selling the game as new when in fact it is a used copy, I never go into gamestop anymore, I used to buy alot from them online and they did the same ****, charging me a new game price for a used game, bad business but I guess alot of casual gamers don't care much about this but if you have been gaming for many years then this might bother you

I use gamestop a lot for buying new games. Of course if I'm going to buy a game new it's gonna be on release day. So I know I'm getting a new copy regardless. I don't sell my games or trade em in. I also don't buy many games. Probably why I haven't had any issues with gamestop.
