A new Pope

Look on the bright side..
He's a youthful 78, so he's gonna know what's 'appening, innit, y'know...etc

I think he's a bit old IMO sorry but I mean it would amaze me a little if he was to survive 20 years, I mean he's 60 years my senior and I dont think he would be around that long. But I think that in his short amount of time, he will have a successful reign.

Like I said, he's a transitional pope, he's not meant to be around that long. They only elected him because they wanted the legacy of JPII to sink in before electing a new younger pope with fresh ideas. :2 cents:

no offense to anyone but I really thin should have picked e with some years left in him, 78 is pushin it already

they want someone older.....rememebr JP 2 was elected was he was 58 and lasted for 26 years....thats why its transitional....whoever came after JP would have a rough time...so they choose someone who they think will suceed, but not be in office for so long....they also chose him to continie JP's beliefs.....

Why all the concern? I can understand being informed about things in the world - more info, the smarter we become. But it seems to me that most of the comments here are being made by people who are not Catholics. If you're not Catholic, your life will go on as normal. If you are Catholic, just pay attention and see if the attention being paid to the new pope is justified - it won't be, because your faith is already a part of you and a new pope won't change that.

i think any person who has such publicity interests the public....esp when such a person can do amazing things....bring attention to a situation etc....

example: John Paul II held a child that had HIV/AIDS in the early 80's (when everyone was afraid of it)...even gave the infant a kiss....people were worried about JP...and what did he show....compassion for a group of people who needed it badly... another example would be JP II meeting with rabbi's and imans..

deeds, gestures and acts like those cut across religion and beliefs....and the Pope no matter who it is, can be a person to do things like that

Good point, met, unfortunately people like slamming the Roman Catholic religion, rather than seeing the acts of love you wrote of.
I'm done with this, thanks.
