She was arrested for spitting and touching two people.

She's eight and doesn't really even know that much, but what makes it worst is that she's autistic. She was even locked up for what she did. The fuck is wrong with people nowadays?

Sure, but the version of autism diagnosed is also at the more capable end of the spectrum and hence most marginal. Before the school is hauled over the coals....

- Was the diagnosis pre or post incident ?
- What was the nature of the behaviour ?
- How long did it last ?

The story as reported is very, very sketchy

I'm assuming the staff at the school is aware of her autism. Her behavior had to be completely out of hand for it to be taken to this extreme. Also, if she's touching people inappropriately (not many details covered), then the staff took the correct course of action. In today's society, you don't mess around with anything like that. They were right to report it to the authorities in order to cover all bases. You don't want to not report it and then have it come out later. Autism or not, there are some incidents that have to be handled. I do believe the authorities might have taken it too far. But you can't blame the school for that.
