Don Trump calls me Pornography Man
Support our troops,” so the ubiquitous saying goes, and one that one may dare to call a "rallying cry" as well, despite the negligible amount of dissention heard only from the thin voices emanating from within the disparate ranks of popular culture's cynical detractors, that it is we find posted in storefront windows, nailed to the trunks of venerable trees on the front lawns and accompanied by the obligatory yellow ribbons, and perhaps, most notably seen on the more visible surface areas of the automobile and its multifarious ********. And so ironic that is seems that there, on the rusted and ragged hide of that which is propelled by the the internal combustion engine, of all places, we would display such sentiment, as a commonly held belief is that the very premise of the violent conflict now well in to its fourth year was predicated for no other purpose than for the express need to acquire the vital substance to be able to continue driving those automobiles its multifarious ********.

Weapons of mass destruction,” is another phrase that has pervaded contemporary vernacular. And precisely, just what is it that has been effectually destroyed, and with such alarming, and unabated regularity?

Support our troops.” Ostensibly, a noble cause that only the sinisterly irreverent would disdain, yet in practice, one that goes little further than being a bumper-sticker or “awareness ribbon,” both of which, besides providing a means for the assuagement of the guilt of the exhibitor, offers little more than serving to benefit the entrepreneur.

Wear your ribbon, and wave that flag, too, if it makes you feel better, but put those dreamy sentiments into practical use. While the members of the respective armed ****** are dispersed across the globe far from where they should, selflessly give of your time and of your resources to assist those whom they have dutifully left behind, and make a meaningful gesture to compensate for the inconvenience and disruption of their otherwise normal daily routine. See that house in your neighborhood with the blue star in the window that, until recent months, even years, once featured a meticulously kept lawn? Get over there and mow that lawn and root out a few dozen weeds while you’re at it, or at least, make arrangements with the remaining occupants to hire someone at your expense to care for their yard work in the prolonged, and unspecified “absence” of the resident groundskeeper. Quite possibly, due to the deployment of one or more members of a household, there will be certain financial hardships incurred. Make that effort to assure that the utilities remain in effect as well as making an offering to stave off any impending foreclosure notifications that may arise. Perhaps the dependants of those in uniform had been attending non-publicly funded schooling or are participants in related school activities; help them out with their school tuition, or with music lessons and instrument rental expenses, fees for participating in sports activities, or any other matter of virtue and respectability, and also show your support with your presence for the various endeavors of those dependants, as unquestionably, there may well be a few extra seats available in the school auditorium or at the athletic field.

What ever your talents are, and no matter what resources you may have to spare, make the offering. If all you can do is bake a cake or clean up after someone’s dog, do it.

Give of your self, because, at this very moment, there are tens of thousands of decent, honorable souls not much different from yourself, and far, far away from where they should be, giving absolutely everything they have to give.

Deeds. Not just words.
