You've already contradicted yourself by claiming they weren't allowed to film it and luckily someone else did when in the vid you just posted the mother says her husband filmed it and in the abc interview they say they uploaded the film themselves on youtube, the mother complains her daughter was upset but how much of this was caused by her dad shoving a video camera in her direction and both parents making comments which the child could hear whilst the search was carried out. If they simply reassured their daughter during the check that this was standard procedure that lots of kids had and not filmed it maybe she would have not got upset. You say Americans need to toughen up them start with these parents making a mountain out of a molehill crying to every media outlet they can think of, there's kids in poorer countries forced to work like slaves or sold like commodities or preyed on by vile peodophiles, I'll save my concern for them

If that happened to my son I'd be raising holy fucking hell over that. Since when is a 6 year old carrying a bomb. The TSA are nothing more than rejected AM-PM security guards who barely passed high school. I've mentioned this before, but once passing through El Paso, actually the last time I did fly, I got pulled into secondary search and my (then 6) was separated from me, then taken away just so they could "search" me and of course, found nothing. I mean, what's a kid to think when "supposed" authority figures grab Dad and take you somewhere away from him.

I'm going to say this because I try to advoid threads like this because we all know it can get touchy.In my line of work we have to pat search children and i totally agree with STDiva you would not imagine what kind of sick person would hide durgs or anything else for that matter on a child.I work in a prison and I seen it all.Now what if something was found on that child then how would the parent look.They (TSA) were just doing there job we all know it is an uneasy world.They did everything right and the first time I saw a child get searched I was shocked and then the first time I found drugs on a child I was sick to my stomach.In my case the child said my daddy needed them which is pretty sad what a person could do to there child to get drugs in a prison.Hey that my :2 cents:

It doesn't matter how many precautions are taken, if someone wants to do harm they will always find a way. Homeland security, the TSA and other agencies aren't meant to keep you safe and deter terrorists, they are meant to keep you afraid. As long as you're afraid they can take your freedom under the guise of keeping you safe.

So what's the alternative? As I said, I'm not a fan of it, but people are f'n crazy... not just terrorists, people. When something like 9/11 happens, did you think it was alright to just keep on going as is?
I don't. I get you, but percautions have to be taken. To say that this has no basis of keeping people safer at all I don't think is accurate. Does it keep people afraid? Yes, it does that also. You're right, people will find a way to do harm, but making the same mistakes more than once in the interest of personal sense of freedom isn't the thing to do.
