33 Cuban illegal aliens break into Turkey Point nuclear power plant on Thanksgiving
November 28

First we hear a remarkable story about how an ordinary couple makes it past the Secret Service into a State dinner and now word comes out of Florida that 33 illegal aliens from Cuba took a boat right up into a supposedly impenetrable nuclear power plant on Thanksgiving. Both incidents raise questions for the Secret Service and DHS as to just how prepared we are for a terrorist attack and also how secure our national power grid is.

Do you believe in your government ?

The secret ingredient? MY BALLS
Let's be realistic here...

There are probably more than 33 illegal immigrants WORKING at that power plant.

Yes I believe in my gov't. It's just that protection takes $$$$. People lately pucker up and tighten their bungholes at the mere mention of taxes. People expect everything to happen perfectly and everything must cost nothing.

We have known about security risks since the 9/11 commission. But we have done nothing to address some of the critical commission's recommendations for 6 years. Now that the economy has cratered and we're bogged down in a recovery...nothing is bound to happen anytime soon.

That source you linked to seemed very "basement-ish," fwiw....

Well, what can we expect? Homeland Security is too busy hassling innocent airline passengers about their carry-on shampoo or their just-purchased bottle of Sprite to worry about trivial things like securing nuclear plants or guarding the President. Why worry about stuff like that when there are old ladies trying to board airplanes with tubes of Dentucream in their purses?

When I read the words 33 Illegal Aliens, I thought the thread was going to be about aliens from outer space.

No I don't think I believe in my government.

too true. make the populace believe the government is in control, while it is obvious it cannot control much. Make the people feel "safe" and all is well

And another thing, why are we still giving Cubans carte blanche to enter the country?! Why not Venezuelans too?

Do you guys actually read the articles?

"the cooling canal in question is some six miles from the power plant itself"

I know people see the 1970s+ efficient cooling towers and believe they are nuclear reactors. Every time I fly into countless airports and people say, "Whoa! That nuke is too close and could be hit by a plane!" I have to explain to them that it's actually a fossil fuel plant, not a nuke, and explain why they are mistaken.

You can even blow up cooling towers and they won't put a dent in nuclear operations. The cooling towers are designed to return water at levels that do not destroy the aquatic life, not cooled for the plant itself. They are for environmental considerations, not plant operational ones.
