According to several studies of the US military funded by the Department of Veteran Affairs, 30% of military women are raped while serving, 71% are sexually assaulted, and 90% are sexually harassed.

i knew it was bad, but those numbers are frightening.
and now watch the usual quasi-nazi clowns here explain why this is "normal": other countries do it too, it used to be worse, they were asking for it since they are women, women shouldn't be in the military, etc etc.

Conspiracy...
I've brought this up before and people like to ignore it.

I'd rather females not join the military because things like this are going to happen. It's much higher than 30%.

i hate hearing and seeing abuse of any type againts women but see that it is happening to our women that are putting there lives on the line every day to make it safe for us to sleep at night really pisses me off

and one of said clowns has already neg-repped me for posting this... how predictable.
I'm a quasi nazi-clown? You're a jerky kinda guy for preinsulting anyone who posts a disagreeing opinion as a quasi-nazi clown...you're pretty clown-like most of the time, but I don't throw around the Nazi insult as easily as you.
As soon as I can. I'll give you some more neg-rep...just as a gesture.

i thought about this for a while and came to this conclusion: isn't this (on top of rape) also treason? if you weaken your own unit's combat strength or morale than that is treason, right?

upset that i took your fox-sponsored pseudo-opinions away from you? :)

and isn't it strange that when i said that some board members would now post excuses to justify rape, you immediately felt insulted and neg-repped me? no one else did that. only you.

draw your own conclusions.

Yes, it is treason.

Will, where in the blue fuck did you get that from? So you're saying that people who get discharged, transferred, etc, and that does in fact lower the unit's strength, are also traitors? So ever since I got out of the Army, I'm a traitor simply because I did my time and wanted to come home? In the Army, we're told if you have a problem, tell someone. Worst case senario is you're either transferred or the other person is. That is in no way treason. Get your facts straight.

Well, first off, those numbers don't like. When I was in the Army, we were told countless times, be careful what you say and who you say it to. I knew some women that were harassed, but not by me or any of my friends. In my company, I'd say the amount of men and women were equal, but no reports of harassment came out of my company or battalion as far as I remember. Even though I never went to Iraq, I knew many guys who did and it doesn't take a genius to figure out that after having rockets, grenades and bullets fly at you, and women remember are not allowed in the infantry, the guys are going to take their frustrations out on someone, and naturally they target women.

I'm in no way saying I agree with that, but it's the truth. Women are on the front lines in Iraq and when they get shot, they bleed just like men do. I believe women should be allowed in the military. They should be able to serve just like the men do. The sad part is though, with all the assholes who harass women in the military, why would anyone want to serve? There are sergeants in the Army that don't give a shit and can make your life a living hell if you say anything, and if you can get past them, the higher up's either don't believe you or don't press the matter.

But like I said, nothing like that happened when I was in, but there were reports all the time in the Army newspaper we read and when we had meetings, we were all told about some female soldier that got raped or things along that line. I don't agree with how the women are treated, but things like that happen all the time in the military.

And Namreg, don't worry about the clown that neg-repped you. I'm ex-Army and good for you for posting it.

It's not strange that I dislike preinsulting members who might have a different take than you...with your many psuedo opinions.
No one has ever, to my knowledge, justified rape...which by the way is a forbidden subject. Do you feel above the site rules, 'cause that one has been stated clearly by the mods.
Post on...a site without you would be a nicer place.

Is 30% supposed to sound like a lot to me? Because, it doesn't. In fact, 30% is actually a low number, when compared to the demographic of every woman in the United States. So, what kind of message am I supposed to getting from this information?

:dunno:

It's warrior culture. It's sick that this happens in such proportions, but being in warrior culture, It is not all that surprising. I just find it ammusing that females would even want to be in such a culture. My (feminin) sister was appaled at the thought. It must be some butch ass rug munchers that join to begin with. I don't know...:dunno:

1 in 3 is not high enough? you are saying that in the civilian US population the rate is higher still? is this your national sport? i don't think so.

I have no idea what that's supposed to mean.

Nearly 1/2 of women in the United States will get sexually assaulted at some point during their life. 30% is low compared to that. So, am I supposed to see 30% of military women and think that it's a big deal? No. In comparison, it's a low number.

Really? Jesus Christ that's staggering. I don't know if I believe that some 50% of our women are going to at one point or another experience sexual abuse. :dunno:

Considering the ratio of women in the Army, 30 percent is very high. I have never read anything that has stated that half the women in America will be sexually assaulted.
