25 years since John Lennon's death

Each year, the day after Pearl Harbor Day brings me equal pause to remember and reflect upon the greatness that was, and always will be, my friend, brother and hero....John Lennon.

Just IMAGINE if John were still alive today!

He was one of the biggest influences in my life, musically speaking, that is. From the early advent of The Beatles through their superstardom and on into that period after they broke up, John Lennon and his music remained a constant in my life.

He was one of the very few artists who could actually paint a picture with just words and a melody. A man of great intellect, vision, and a deep, abiding love for humanity.

Rest In Peace, John. You are missed.

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

I can't help but wonder what he would be doing today if he were still with us. His influence on culture, music, movies, the war... He was a force to be reckoned with when he was involved...

So sad and pointless his death. I get angry sometimes at how he was killed so young with so much more to offer. I can't help but feel cheated somehow.

Its sad. Im a big beatles fan, though John Lennon did go off after they split.
I dont want to sound horrible, but if he were alive today, hed be a drunken hippie doing Pulp covers. But it was good while it lasted.

He was good during the beatles, but check his albums after.. all, what was it? about 10 of them, i think they were all love songs for yoko. The only good one was, oh yoko.

He was good with the beatles, but its time to forget about him now.

Still get kinda choked-up thinking about that day, especially hearing a tune every now and then. Hard to beleive it's been 25 years. As always rest in peace John.

As far as "forgetting", I don't think so, at least with our generation.

Chapman can burn in Hell.:2 cents:

I was 7 when he died, still remember that day. I didn't really care for music at that age, but I see how shocked my brother was (he's six years older than me) when we heard the news at that morning. But over the years I realized what the world had lost that day.

May you rest in peace, John. I'm sure you are proud of your great influence to music, even if you have to see that the world has not yet become wiser and there still could be much more peace. :angels:

Just watched A & E's special on John and the fucking asshole who killed him. I am vehemently against the death penalty but Mark David Chapman is a dirty, rotten cocksucker who deserves no consideration as a human being whatsoever. When the glorious day comes when you die, may you rot in Hell forever, Mark David Chapman, and may God forgive you because I sure as hell won't!!! Fuck you, Chapman!!!!!!!!

Dude, just my opinion but if you truly feel as angry as you sound, you need to get some help!!!

Your post screams "disturbed".... Kind of like Mark David Chapman was when he shot JL.:)

Every nation on earth has it's own National Anthem, I would suggest that if the world were to be given an Anthem, then 'Imagine' would be a fitting song.
It's a pity that not everyone of earth's inhabitants could behave or act more like the lyrics of the song.

John Lennon... a true mastermind of music, peace, and all awesomeness. i'm sure all of you will agree with me (( and i do not mean to sound redundant from the other posts by other members, but state my own addition )) that he was the kind of fellow that only comes once in a lifetime, there will only ever be one or two souls with so much drive, power, and the ingenius mind capable of creating such terrific works and not wavering from his path. there have been geniuses in the past who have fallen astray from their good walks... but john was never one to slip. he was as much committed as any good soul with an opinion to speak, and he spoke well. John, Your loss of life shattered us, and we will never be able to repay the debt we owe for how you changed us.
