This is exactly what I'm talking about, I don't get it. Surely that site should be nominated under the best Pornstar website? But then last year Jelena Jensen won that category who also does hardcore. So I guess there really isn't any chance for us actual solo girls.....oh well.

It's all about money and affiliate programs. VV and JJ both have pretty big affiliate programs that branch through the main porn companies in the valley. You are correct in saying that both have done past hardcore stuff - so their notoriety with the folks who vote/award the hardware is high. Visibility is key. It's hard for independents like yourself to break the glass ceiling unless you really do something remarkable. I think the term "solo" girl website is used rather loosely. I think it only means that the content is based around 1 person, and that content is specific to that website whether its b/g, g/g, solo/masturbation stuff. I understand what you mean by "solo" in your terms - which means no b/g or even g/g stuff really - just you. That's gonna be hard sell to AVN nominators/voters because it's still just considered a niche market, much like webcam girls, etc.

This is going to have some explaining. Any organization can hand out an award. Being given an award of any kind gives you something to show off no matter who gives it to you. Having one of those has nothing to do with your true accomplishments, just a recognition by someone. Xbiz, AVN, writer's clubs, all the same shit. At some time before or after you get nominated you've gotta show some kind of money flowing to them and their friends. If you've got a product that sells then they want a cut of it. Independents don't mean jack and you are excluded from the club. It's not just in adult entertainment but in all industries. If they think they can pick some of you off to make themselves some money, they will have an award for you. Special categories, achievement awards. they'll just make one up for you if necessary to get a piece of your business. I know because I have been part of this type of thing.

That's exactly right. The solo site category doesn't specifically refer to solo content, it refers to a website that is dedicated to and centers around a specific girl, regardless of what genre she is doing on said website. Solo is basically just the opposite of what a multi model website is, such as Brazzers, Met-Art, Naughty America, etc.
The term you're thinking of (addressing Briana here) would be Adult Model, which is what the MisFO category is, meaning a girl who only does solo and girl/girl content, no boy/girl, and not so much hardcore (IMO, girl/girl and solo can be hardcore too, depending on how you look at it). It can be easy to get solo and adult confused.

Jelena Jensen deserved the shit out that that award last year. I'm not just saying this because she's a good friend of mine but there aren't too many models who completely run their own site..she does her own coding, she edits her stuff, produces it, it's all 100% her. She runs my site as well if you guys didn't know that : )

You either pose for Penthouse/Playboy and play with a dildo on a webcam or take a cock from a dude and get nominated for an AVN. It really is that simple. Adult Models are really ostracized from any corner of the "adult entertainment" other than having the prestige of posing for Penthouse/Hustler/Playboy or one of any other adult magazines and bump their prestige that way and through grass roots stuff with a website/camming/feature dancing with top of the line adult clubs or you go "all in." It's sad that it's an all or nothing principle like that, but that's what I've seen on the outside looking in on the business for about a decade now.
