As much as I hate to admit it, the Irish are a very good football team. They won't impress you on offense, but their defense is ridiculous. If you don't have them in your top ten, then you have no business making a top ten.

Dirk - those rankings were before they beat Oklahoma. Not that I think that much of the Sooners, I don't - but it was still a noteworthy effort to go into Norman and dominate the way they did. However, today's game vs Pittsburgh confirmed my opinion of their vulnerability. I agree with STD, I definitely think USC (despite their porous defense) is going to beat The Irish.

not so FAST!...... first i would like to say..i think oregon has a good football team..but giving up 51 points to usc cast a shadow on them. bama has done 2 of the things it had to do (miss st and lsu in the bayou) but we only half there...still a lot on the plate. saturday we play the BEST 2 loss and improved team in the nation and if we survive that dogfight...we set a date with another hungry bunch that has woke up and decided they would be as good as i give them credit for that other bunch of dawgs. if they clear that off...i start seeing a way for a 2x NC . i think georgia finally put together what i seen at the first of the year and have become a MUCH improved team. bottom line i am not sure a nfl team could score 60+points on bamas defense. if usc can run up 51 points on oregon they are beatable. a lot remains to be seen..but before we start talking about oregons offense...better wipe johnny football off the board. he gets a lot of hype but he lives up to all of it. without question (regardless of what happens saturday) the best qb in the ncaa IMO
Louisville (9) losing badly to Syracuse - 19 points down at the start of the fourth. Michigan is struggling hard to avoid their fourth loss to North Western. Wisconsin looks like they'll beat Indie, and the winner of that game goes to the Big Ten championship game. Florida is losing to LA Lafayette.
