2011-12 Football Season Thread.

I know it's never going to happen but i believe Celtic could prosper in England. Because of all the investors in England, there is a lot of money floating around, meaning teams can spend a lot of money on players, even low league teams can afford to get in good players.

Even if they started in league 2, I'm sure we would be a top level championship team/lower level EPL team within 4-5 years, we wouldn#t need to change the stadium since it's bigger than the majority of the English stadiums(only Wembley and Old Trafford are bigger). We're already a worldwide name, and sell more merchandise than almost all of the EpL teams(excluding the top 4-6 big teams)

We've beaten big EPL teams before and are no doubt capable of competing well at championship level at least. I'd say, that within a few years of being in the English leagues, Celtic could quite easily finish around or close to the top half of the EPl on a good season.

The old firm would have added a lot to England Imo, the only reason we weren't alowed in was because they'd have to split the money two extra ways. There is no doubt in my mind that they could cope

According to Liverpool, Suarez said he was going to shake Evra's hand, so there was no reason to abandon the hand shake.

I think Suarez probably nodded to the question of shaking Evra's hand while his head was saying "Aye Right" and
when the time came he thought "fuck this" and declined to do so.But as I've mentioned loads of times before,if they
didn't have go through with this stupid process before the game of shaking hands, then there wouldn't have been a big
issue about it.Also if Suarez didn't shake hands at the end of the game with Evra, then it would have shown up Suarez
even more.

So because of this in my opinion, they shoudn't shake hands before the game especially when they are most likely to to
it after the game has finished.

At least somebody with a brain agrees ;)

Well thats us (Rangers FC) in administration but I think we throughly deserved it,as we were spending way beyond our means.
I guess it was going to happen sooner or later, and on the run-in to this seasons European games, where we never signed anybody,
I knew that something was really wrong.

The 10 point deduction is nothing to us because to be honest we were never going to win the league, with the team we
had.I think there will be a few players kicked out the team, and from an optimistic point of view we might get some kids
coming out of Murray Park that could get some practice in before next season.Hopefully we don't go down the route of
trying to buy foreign players because to be honest the Old Firm had more success with Scottish players playing for them
than with Foreign mercenaries. So in a way it's disasterous but I think when everything gets sorted out, things will change
for the better.

Swansea and Cardiff play in the English Leagues, remember?

Yes, I know. That is not quite what I meant. At the moment, the UK includes England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
With Wales setting a precedent, I don't see a problem with Celtic joining the English FA, what I do see as a problem in the future would be Scotland in the English FA if Scotland was no longer part of the UK.

Going into administration was the only thing that was ever going to happen. Rangers would never be able to pay off 75 million and all of the papers will be published from when Whyte was in charge.
Murray spent money Rangers didn't have on players and wages. It's their own fault and they've only got their selves to blame.

I'm sure Celtic fans would have more sympathy if Rangers and Murray hadn't gloated and rubbed our noses in it when Celtic were in finantial trouble. Most of the nine in a row came when Rangers were cheating taxes and celtic were in a horrible mess. Now that Celtic ahve recovered and have very little debt, Rangers have to pay for cheating and it's all caught up with them.

Celtic fans are jubilation because of the whole situation, mostly because of how Murray and many rangers fans treated Celtic when we lost 9 times in a row(even though we were recovering from near financial turmoil) and Rangers were spendind money on players by cheating tax..

That's why many fans are singing "We will have a party when Rangers die". Although most Celtic fans don't understand that Celtic need Rangers to be there in the future. All of us can enjoy this, it's pay back in a sense for how Celtic fans were treated in the 90's

I think what would happen to the Scottish League would be that it would lose it's status, and end up being on same level as the
Welsh League or even the Irish Leagues that nobody bothers about. If it did happen then hopefully the league structure would
reform with 16 - 20 teams in each league. To which I think would be more appealing for the Scottish fan.

As for Scotland getting it's independance,it's never going to happen unless the English want us out of the Union.

I think many of the bigger teams in England should take a good look at Rangers troubles. They're all spending money as if it's unlimited. 20 million for a player here, 30 million for a player there. It's unsustainable. TV money and rich investors can only get you so far. I think the EPL bubble will burst... has to.

Celtic look to be doing it the right way at the moment. Buying talented young players on the cheap with a good chance of significant profit in a few years time.

I'll take a U-turn on what I said previously about Wenger, I wouldn't like to see him go. Fans are upset, what with the likes of Tottenham doing so well and all... I just want someone "upstairs" to explain the current situation with the club, the silence is deafening...

First thing first...this is NOT a knee-jerk reaction to a defeat (read my previous posts).

But this has to be his last season...it has to be.

Today was Arsenal's WORST performance of the season...EVERYTHING was wrong. Would ANY top side in europe lose the way they did yesterday? Absolute disgrace...Arsene Wenger is a disgrace.

The midfield kept passing the ball sideways and backwards...absolutely no penetration. Every time the ball went back to the goalie he kept lumping it forward...who in the team can hold the ball up? Who? So it came straight back. Every time Sagna runs down the wing (not just this game mind) he crosses the ball aimlessly hoping it falls to a Arsenal player...every time Milan put three passes together they were running straight at the back four or should I say the back three? Arsenal's passing was slow and there was no movement...completely lethargic.

Theo Walcott is also a disgrace and should be sold next season...can't pass, can't dribble, can't defend. Also why for the-love-fairies must Wenger ALWAYS play 4-1-2-3? Every time we play against decent opposition RVP is isolated. Try something else for goodness-sakes...4-4-2?

Every time I see Wenger in the touchline he looks nervous, grumpy, agitated... throughout most of the match he was just sitting there. No instructions no ideas...I realise this is not Wenger's style...but he should at least get someone else to do it.

2-0 down at half-time and he decides to bring Henry on, a player past his best...I know he has scored for Arsenal in previous games, but this was always towards the END of games. Instead he should've put on the player who should've started AOC.

INSANITY: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Arsenal are out of the Carling Cup, we're out of the Champions League and I hope we go OUT of the F.A. Cup and FAIL to finish in the top four. Why would I as an Arsenal supporter want this?

Because it will bring about the only solution...CHANGE.

WHat's happened to all the English clubs in Europe? So much for the best league in the world.....If only Spurs were in the Champions League......oh wait, they failed to even make the knockout stages of the Europa League :1orglaugh

England had some dominant teams in Europe up until a few years ago, the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and even Man Utd to an extent have lost their golden generation of players who are either retired or considerably aged and replaced with mediocre youngsters. Worse still I don't think Italians teams are anywhere near the level they were at back in the 90s, they don't have the money like they used to but English teams still do and a lot of rejects from the English league end up in Italy whereas before it used to be the other way around. Milan still have some very old players they are clinging to and the likes of Kevin-Prince Boateng were ineffective in the Premier League, if Arsenal weren't so shambolic at the back it would have been a much closer game.

In all the years that Arsene has been at the club, he has never managed to replace the solid defence of Seaman, Adams, Bould, Keown, Winterburn and Dixon.

Even though I feel as much disdain and contempt for Milan as I do for Arsenal, yesterday's match was painful to watch at times as I caught myself feeling sorry for Arsenal more then once during those 90 minutes. Which basically tells me they're massively fucked up. But then again, I don't really care. For football's sake I hope they come out swinging in three weeks time.

I've heard that Rangers are in talks with a new buyer who is an oil tycoon in Texas. His
team that they will clear all their debts, and give Ally McCoist £100 million for the tranfer
kitty.

But only one condition guarantees this, and that would be for Glasgow Rangers to change
their name to the Glasgow Cowboys :D

Anyone with Sky sports should watch Sky sports 1 for the Celtic kick off, it's meant to be a really good atmosphere at kick off, with the possibility of both fans singing something like "there'll be no huns in Scotland"

It is also possible that the HIbs fans will be singing "one down onw to go"

Every Celtic fan has party hats and balloons. Really wish i was at that game

I just heard "Let's all laugh at Rangers, let's all laugh at Rangers, na na na na"
It's just one big party in that stadium just now

Bloody hell. Just how close were we to getting through after that 4-0 drubbing away. I'm disappointed that we did not make it but a 3-0 score line against the top team in Italy can't be bad. At this rate, we should be back in Europe again next year.

You really can't make up Rangers troubles.

First the fans set up a fighting fund to try and help the club but instead send their money here www.bluenose.co.uk Instead of www.thebluenose.co.uk
(I'm sure Mr custard is happy with all the money)

Then an older fan posts a video of him playing a song on a child's keyboard(I love the shoulder shrugs)

Now we find out they (perhaps) are not legally in administration

They are almost a parody of themselves

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo believes his side's Champions League success over Napoli will go down as a significant moment in the club's history.

The west Londoners overcame the odds at Stamford Bridge to progress to the quarter-finals, overcoming a 3-1 first-leg defeat in Naples to go through 5-4 on aggregate after extra-time.
