I have no problem with Bama still being ranked ahead of South Carolina. No single win or loss should move a team up or down more than 8 or 9 spots (unless a 1-AA team is involved, (ex. Michigan-Appalachian St) or it's a complete blowout. They were ranked too far apart to justify switching one on top of the other. If it were like that, rankings would be completely different every single week, as opposed to voters looking at the complete body of work over the course of the season.

Technically true and good point. It was just one game.

That sounds reasonable. On the other hand if a lot of people still think Alabama is the best team in the nation or still think they are second best and they don't put too much on any one win or loss it also wouldn't make sense to move them down hardly at all. It's just easier to think the polls don't make sense, don't have any strict guidelines, and too many voters just put teams where they want on what amounts to whims or some strange personal formula. I don't think people can have it both ways. It's part of the reason the whole system doesn't make sense.

I also see Boise State and TCU are in prime position to get screwed again. In a few short years Boise might become the most screwed over school in the history of college football as far as this sort of stuff goes. Thinking one team is better than the other is one thing and I don't have a problem with it. Having a system where teams might not only have no shot no matter what they do but might have never had a shot from the beginning is just stupid and unfair to the extreme.

Not yet, BI. The 'Canes need to take out FSU!

All things considered....it is SO tough to win every fucking game. I don't feel one bit sorry for Alabama and their fans tonight (to quote Bob Dylan...."How does it feel??") but I can certainly relate to their pain (last year's championship game). One thing that was really exposed today was Alabama's defense against a team that can run to set up the pass. And this Jefferys guy from South Carolina! What a fucking stud!! We'll be seeing him on Sunday in a couple of years (and he's only a fucking sophomore!!).

I just hope that our resident Tide fanatic smoknn doesn't jump off the Tallahatchie bridge or something similar. You need to check in with us, bro! :D Ahem....pray tell us....what did you think of today's game? :D

OSU is the new #1 and I would suspect that continued major conference teams that can stay undefeated will ultimately start to leapfrog BSU and TCU. When you keep playing opponents like Wyoming and Toledo you won't be able to score many style points.

This college football season just became very, very interesting as a result of 'Bama's loss. I'm stoked!:eyeso::banger:

Go 'Canes!!!

Figgers. Bama can't even kill himself right. Well, at least you didn't go on a drunktard rampage with a bottle of Jack in one hand and your shotgun in the other.

I suppose that's an accomplishment.:hatsoff:

o i did all that shotgun ..etc....shot 3 cars..then busted out a window with the empty jack bottle...:horse::ban:

I gotta say smoknn, I'm surprised you're so high on Auburn. They have played 1 good game this season, that's about it (against South Carolina). And even that game they started badly. All their games are close.

I'm an SEC guy. But all these teams ahead of Michigan State is bullshit. Fuckin' bullshit.

I have no problem with Alabama ahead of South Carolina. Beating a team on your own homefield should not guarantee being ahead of them in the polls. Unless it was a blowout.

Btw 1 game got overlooked. The Beavers going to Tucson and torching the Cats defense. Oregon State is only 3-2, but they've played a ridiculously tough schedule thus far. Don't count them out in the Pac-10. And that win helps the resumes of both Boise State and TCU, who each beat the Beavs.

For the first time in a long time, I'm afraid to play against Florida State........at least that game won't affect our SEC title chances......

Why isn't Michigan state in the top 10?.

I'm still thinking the Spartans are only the third best team in the Big 10, but time will tell.

WFT is wrong with these people? As 'Mega pointed out, Alabama ahead of South Carolina? Stupid.

I agree. Their team resumes this year were similar enough that a clear cut victory by SC, even though it was a home game, should push them above 'Bama.

I also think Stanford should be higher on the list. Fooey, I say.

Yeah I think they're ranked a position or two too low.
Tough battle pulling that one out of the fire against the So Cal Titsrock's.

:lame:

"....Poooosey"!!! I would have had more respect for you if you had taken out at least 4 defenseless cars.:hammer:

How's that Crimson Tide rolling now?

:nanner:

i think it was a decent ROLL...19 wins in a row..1 national championship..1 heisman winner...besides..if we win out..they may get a chanch to do that again...next time you read the story..it may have a differnt ending:wave:

ok heres my deal on auburn..#1..they got 16 of22 starters back=solid # 2..they remind me of bama in 92..they have another gear when they detect urgency..they playing one game at a time..and one point is good as a thousand..and lets keep in mind..they beat south carolina..who knocked off the # 1 team in the nation...and that fast version of herman munster they got at qb...is getting smarter every game..they look like a 3 legged jackass going down the field..but they keep doing it:dunno:im a bama fan..and for me to say that about auburn:eek:..you know i had to see something

:lame:

Third best? Behind OSU and Illinois then? :D

Harris Poll is out. I like it better since it has Mizzou at 19.

Too many polls. By the way, there's a rumor that the first BCS rankings will have Boise State as the #1 team by a wide margin....and Ohio State will be #5!!! :dunno::confused::wtf::lame:

Check it out here:

I wanna say Oregon is the best team in the country, but I can't get last years Ohio State victory against them out of my head. Though, I'm not totally sold on Pryor. He's a little too inconsistent for my taste.

ok folks i got a early one for ya..i know this is not a nfl board before i get punched..we all like money ...this is my first money in the bank pick this year..for a happy face..take new orleans -5 against tampa bay bet the farm
