Some thoughts from Saturday.....

Six in a row against those Tennessee fuckers. God I love beating UT......even more than beating FSU. Need to shore up the blown coverages though. And stop getting fucking arrested. I don't care if he's won us 2 titles. I want Urban Meyer fired if this doesn't stop.

I wouldn't fret about Oklahoma being inconsistent. Utah State, who they barely beat a few weeks ago, played well against Fresno State, who beat Cincinnati. And Air Force may win 10 games this year.

Stanford is ridiculously good. So is Oregon.

Houston's loss has to be disappointing. UCLA was nothing short of abysmal against Stanford, and they kicked UH's ass. I got UCF winning CUSA.

Jake Locker is gonna have a Matt Leinart situation in terms of his draft stock. Ryan Mallett and Andrew Luck > Jake Locker.

And UMass hanging with Michigan wasn't a shock to me. These programs keep scheduling the best FCS schools, then wonder why they struggle against them. The very best FCS teams are as good as a 7-5 team from the C-USA or WAC. I certainly wouldn't be shocked if Fresno State or Tulsa beat Michigan. Disappointed yes, shocked no.

Dude, that game was never in doubt... impressive offense today by Bama, but that defense has me a little concerned... it's not the 09 defense, that's readily apparent.

My lock for tonight's Clemson v. API (aka Auburn) game: Bet the house on the Tigers.:)

i just posted the same thing..the offence goes without saying..only difference is..they should be better...than last year...but..after next week,,at least we will have a idea of what we got..on defence. mallet needs to be on his back most of that game..hes got a gun

Lessons learned from this weekend.

1: The Big East and ACC should have their automatic BCS bids taken away ASAP.
2: The SEC is way overrated.
3: The Big Ten is on the upswing as long as they don't have to play in the desert.

in what way would the sec be overrated?? they have won the national championship i know the past four years without looking....you must have posted this before clemson run out of air...them bama boys is tough long live the SEC!!!

I think and of course this is just me.that the best FCS schools are better than those 7-5 WAC or C-USA school.but then again that is just me.

I suppose a coach can't monitor every stupid thing a kid does but it's complicated. Sometimes you can look at what a kid is accused of and what he actually did and kick him off the team outright without his day in court (so to speak). Sometimes there is the accusation and the facts need to be gathered before some definitive action can be taken, etc. Generally when these kids commit to your program by default you are telling their family he's joining your family and you're going to take care of him accordingly. Which usually means you don't toss the kid the first time he does something dumb.

But all a coach can do is set a climate for not tolerating irresponsible/criminal behavior by having the team self police itself and making some examples sometimes.

Beyond that Meyer is paid to win football games and keep UF off of probation.

The Pac 10 will be interesting this season. I'm actually more interested in the Oregon/Stanford game more so than either's game against USC.

Well at some point a lineman, LB, RB, etc. of proportional weight is just another player no matter what league or level their program is.

In the past, where not just FCS schools but lower tier conference schools would come up short is in speed and depth. With the systems they are running now and speed they're adding they're closing the gap.

Unless an FCS school is playing some SEC or Pac 10 school where speed is all over the field..the good ones can compete with Michigan at this point.

We (Michigan) don't have the superior speed and in some cases not even the depth to be able to run away from programs with good systems and good players right now. No matter what college level.

There are probably many MAC schools with better defenses than ours right now.

Wow! It sounds like you know everything about everything

Here's something you apparently don't know. Jake Locker sucks. He's a terrible fit for what Steve Sarkisian wants to do at UDub, and he really has no business being drafted in the first round of the NFL draft. Locker is way closer to Colt McCoy than Matt Leinart. How's the NFL working out for Colt McCoy btw? It doesn't surprise me that Arizona sucks in the NFL. They got rid of the wrong QB

It is shocking that Okie almost blew it to Air Force. There is no way they come close to 10 wins. Are you serious? They'll be lucky to get 8 wins. They can't hang with the elite MWC teams on the road. That means huge losses to Utah and TCU this year. I think Navy will torpedo them again.

Let's not get carried away with the greatness of Utah State either. Since when do we give credit for teams "hanging with" teams like Fresno State :dunno:

I never said cal would go undefeated. I just thought they would emerge from the chaos at the top the Pac this season and head to the Rose. I did not see anyway for them to get blown out by the great Nevada Wolf Pack..

TR I'm shocked that you went with California I figured you would have picked the Oregon Ducks or Arizona Wildcats:dunno:

I gave up on Oregon when Masoli and all the arrests happened. I figured they would be a mess at QB. Now, just because they're rolling up 50+ on cupcakes doesn't mean they have the mettle to emerge in the Pac. Tennessee is a nothing team this season. Neither were their opponents. So let's just calm down about the Quacks right now until they meet up against a team that can actually offer real resistance...

I didn't think that Stanford had the Defense to win the Pac. Their destruction of ucla at the Rose was an eye-opener for me, for sure...

cal has outrecruited both Stanford and Oregon for years and I just thought this would be the year, with USC out of the way, that cal would put it together and head to the Rose.

I could suffer through an OT loss to Nevada...and still see that cal could get to the Rose, but getting hammered like they did...yikes.

I think OU will be just fine. They're playing a lot of freshmen this year, so it's not surprising to see them play inconsistent (especially against the option).

I still see OU winning 10 games and beating Texas, but the Big 12 title game (assuming it's Nebraska) should be an interesting match-up. Nebraska has a running QB, and OU struggles against running QBs.

What I meant by the Jake Locker statement is that he was a top 3 pick for sure, but staying in school will probably hurt is stock, with the good QBs that could potentially be in the draft this year. I wouldn't be surprised he's the QB every year who is wondering why the fuck he hasn't been drafted yet, as Matt Leinart once was.

And I don't know if you noticed, but Air Force kicked BYU's ass. Who kicked Washington's ass. Which probably means they could win 5 out of 9 in the Pac-10.

And btw, even with BYU leaving, the Mountain West is gonna be sick. Utah, TCU, Boise State, Fresno State, Nevada, Air Force?? That sounds better to me than West Virginia, UConn, Rutgers, Pittsburgh, South Florida, and Cincinnati. I feel sorry for the Colorado States and New Mexicos, who will no longer be able to 6-6 themselves into a bowl.

I think you've got this figured just about right.
Based on what we've seen so far they should handle Texas.
And Air Force is a solid team. It's not surprising they gave OU a good battle on what may have been a bit of a letdown week for the Sooners.

early line bama -7 vs. ark...to be continued...i got home work to do:elaugh:

Eh, I'm not completely sold on Stanford yet.

UCLA's offense essentially self-destructed, and their defense, despite being on the field most of the game, limited Luck to 11 for 24 passing.

The last 2 Stanford scores basically came in garbage time.

Yes they're a good team but I'm not sure how good.

We should know in two weeks.

They've got the Lurking Dirks in South Bend this week (that should be a "W" :D) then my Ducks in Eugene Oct. 2nd :hammer:

I'm torn on that game. I'd like to see Arkansas win, but if Bama wins, that would help Florida in the long run. Cuz beating the number 1, undefeated, defending national champions in their house should catapult us atop the rankings.

7 points..not a lot of points..the way bama has been scoring....if bama gets out of this one with a W ill be happy as a pig in shit!!
