What should give you hope for the tourney if you're a Bucks fan is their consistent play and foul shooting. Defense is a problem at times. AFA my SPARTANS are concerned, they are almost in fucking free fall. If I was a Bucks fan, I would be VERY concerned come Tuesday.

I would be very surprised if Purdue kept tonight's final margin under ten points. We just don't match up well at all against them. JaJuan Johnson is all finesse. There's no way he can guard Sullinger which means we're going to have to put Carrol on him. They'll exploit that all night long. Buford, Lauderdale, and Diebler will also have a huge night. Yikes...

I can honestly see the Buckeyes winning by 15 tonight.

Did you enjoy the Notre Dame game last night?

I don't watch the sport, but I thought of you when I heard the results...

I honestly only watch the Big Ten conference. Notre Dame isn't competitive enough on a yearly basis for me to hate on them.

In other words, I don't even know what happened. :dunno:

This isn't even worth watching. Down 20 in the first half, get the fuck out of here. We've been out of position on defense, taken horrible shots on offense, and generally just looked like we were completely unprepared for tonight's game.

This is going to get ugly and if I keep watching, I'm not going to have a voice tomorrow. I've been screaming at my goddamn TV since the game started. I literally drove the girlfriend out of the house.

What the fuck happened tonight?

That's the worst fucking first half we've played since Painter took over.

I'm done. I'll be at the hospital drop kicking newborns.

Another undefeated team falls; Jimmer Fredette is certainly making a serious run for the Naismith Player of the Year award with his 43-point burst against San Diego State.

I don't know if there's an elite team in the Big East; they all seem flawed in some way, but I'll still be surprised if the league doesn't put a record number of schools in the NCAA tournament, and I won't be shocked if one or two make the Final Four. The problem is trying to figure out which one or two because the league is a scattered mess after three top 10 teams took losses Saturday (UConn, Villanova, Syracuse).

7 Big East members are in the top 25 of the latest poll, and half of the Big East's 16 members already have either 3 or 4 league losses, which suggests every relevant Big East member except Pittsburgh is likely to spend the next 5 weeks alternating between wins and losses. It'll be fun to watch from a distance but unbearable to experience first-hand.

For more proof look no farther than to Wednesday's showdown between Syracuse and Connecticut - Syracuse will either take its fifth straight loss or UConn will take its second straight loss.

There's no way around it, which is why Jim Boeheim and Jim Calhoun must be going crazy. Both are coming off tough losses today, and now one of them is guaranteed to lose again Wednesday.

It's funny how the conversation consistently shifts in college basketball. For instance, its goes from "Will Duke go undefeated this season?" to "Will Duke even earn a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament this season?".

Florida State put the 1st question to rest on Jan. 12 with a 66-61 win over the Blue Devils. Now it's time to address the second question, and the answer might surprise you because it's possible the answer is that, no, the Blue Devils will not get a No. 1 seed because they're going to be lacking quality wins to offset bad losses like the tough loss they took Sunday at St. John's.

The Blue Devils were 5-of-26 from 3-point range while committing 17 turnovers against a stingy defense. So, yeah, I understand why Duke lost Sunday. What I'm having a more difficult time understanding is how the Blue Devils are going to earn a No. 1 seed with no great wins and at least two questionable losses.

The lack of quailty in the ACC won't "fail to prepare" Duke for the 2011 NCAA tournament any more than the lack of quality in the Horizon League failed to prepare Butler for the 2010 NCAA tournament. But what it might do is prevent Duke from earning a No. 1 seed because the quality wins just aren't going to be available. The Blue Devils beat Kansas State, Michigan State and Butler early, but none of those wins look like quality wins now. Making things worse is that not a single team on Duke's past or future schedule figures to be ranked when the polls are updated Monday. So whereas Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Connecticut, Kansas and Texas still have plenty of chances to stack nice wins, all Duke can really do is stack OK wins or bad losses.

But it doesn't mean Duke can't win the national title this year - dismissing them as a legitimate candidate this season because of what happened Sunday would be equal parts premature and stupid. But what's neither premature nor stupid is to wonder whether a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament is possible. If it doesn't happen, it won't necessarily be because the Blue Devils aren't good enough. Rather, it'll likely be rooted in the fact that their body of work will lack quality wins because their schedule doesn't provide many, if any, opportunities to record them.

The Big East is deep as fuck. I'm looking at a team like Marquette, who in my opinion is a very dangerous team who has an average record cuz of the tough ass schedule they have to play. Same could be said about West Virginia and St. John's, who just rampaged Duke.
