2008 MLB Thread

yeah i got it but the times suck on the west coast for me to catch it. Shayd i agree Barton is a prospect but i think he put to much pressure on himself with Giambi the lineup changes and maybe he relaxes.

Agreed my friend, I'm just hoping he shows what he's capable of, because I know he's capable of some damn fine numbers.

does anyone have the MLB network Hot Stove does pretty good keeping you informed on player tranactions and major moves.

Internet is faster. And we dont have to listen to that idiot, what's his name? Vasgersian talk. Fuck that idiot. Although I love Harold Reynolds.

What happened to Travis Buck?

He started off really slowly last year, then got demoted to AAA, then was injured for a month with a leg injury, then came back, starting hitting again, and promptly suffered a concussion, which was misdiagnosed as an inner ear infection, then finally at the end of August got to play again, and hit like his old self again.

In fact, he's probably going to be competing in Spring Training for a starting spot (pre-Giambi signing he was certain to be the starting right fielder).

Joe Morgan?

Great player, but an idiot, I must say. I used to love when Baseball Tonight had both Harold and Peter Gammons. Those were great days. Two guys that you could trust.

Absolutely! I just loved how Harold was actually well spoken and was extremely eloquent when he talked about the game. Joe Morgan reminds me of a ******* 50 year old, rambling about how great he used to be, he absolutely drives me insane. Peter Gammons just plain knows his stuff, if I ever have a question about baseball history, I'm going to Peter or Tim Kirkjian.

Damn Dish Network dont got no MLB network. Luckily when checking out the Giants website got a nice little peek into the channel with a piece on Timmy Lincecum. As for Joe, thank god he's only on once a week and that Jon Miller is there to ease the constant chatter about what Joe did in his day. But I sure do miss baseball, so close yet so far.

That report is from late October. If they hadn't made a move by now,I think they will until his contract runs out.

I seem to recall ESPNews doing a story about it not too long again, so maybe it has indeed gone through.

If this had happened five years ago I'd agree with one reader's comment: Hire Vin Scully to be the solo voice of Sunday night baseball. Sadly Vin has finally started showing his age somewhat, but even at 81 the guy is still baseball's poet laureate :hatsoff:

You know, I'm not from LA, nor do I really hear him very often, but I agree with you whole-heartedly.

I'm a northern cal guy like you shayd. Lived here most of my life. But I did live in socal for a time and DAMN it was amazing listening to Scully every day. The man is truly one of a kind.
