2008 MLB Thread

There are now three certainties in life, death, taxes, and that the Cubs are guaranteed to ***** at some point in the season.

Here's to 100 years of futility,:glugglug:,you've earned it.

It's just as well the Cubs lost. Since the Red Sox and White Sox broke their long streaks we've had global warming and the sub prime mortgage crisis. Could you imagine the untold carnage if the Cubs finally won?

Imagine, the two biggest headlines of 2008: Cubs win the World Series, and McCain/Palin wins the election.

I'm rather amazed by both teams poor showing, actually. When they were making the playoffs, they were the best thing in the world... And then they both lose right off the bat. I expect that from the Cubs, but the Sox? Come on.

I'm just happy the Brewers won tonight. They did a lot of the same things offensively that caused them to lose the first two (and many other games), but they had good pitching tonight from Bush and the bullpen. (Torres possibly excepted in his save.)

Oh, and I haven't commented yet on this thread, that yes, I am still grieving over my Mets. Lordy lordy.....

We have 3 solid starters and Clayton Richard looks like he's about ready to become a starter.Vasquez should be moved to the bullpen and Contreras should be replaced, which means that we need to go out and get one more starter.

We also need better relievers. If I have to see Mike MacDougal again I think that I'll *****.

And finally,we have to get faster on the bases, and better hitting at the bottom of the order.

Yes, Podsednik was the catalyst the year they won the Series.

Condolences to Cub fans. Man that's rough. Win 97 games and get swept by a team that wouldn't even be in the playoffs if they were in any other division, a team that was 5 games under .500 and DOA 4 weeks ago,

FYI - Russell Martin was soooo out on that horseshit call.

It was actually the right call. It was hard to tell from the one perspective TBS showed, but I saw it from another angle after the game and the ump got it right.

Yeah that was ******. Two years in a row. The worst kind of deja vu

but Podsednik allways has a good year followed by a bad or injury one. the year after the sox won he had both. the other thing the sox need is contact hitting leaving 12 runners on base through 6 innings certainly didn't help them in game 2

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh Phillies! :nanner:

Dodgers vs Phillies, I am excited.

We swept them and then they swept us within a weeks span during the regular season. Should be a great series.

WOOOHOOO!

The White Sox season is officially better than the Cubs season!

Big win today for my south side boys. Now I'm just praying for a miracle.

That was exactly what I was saying yesterday, except with "White Sox" replaced with "Brewers"! LOL We can rejoice together in the Cubs' futility! (Sorry Cubs fans)

Of course now the Cubs futility is all I've got with the Brew Crew losing today. :( Really neat solo dinger by Fielder though. Gotta love those solo shots; they pack a lotta pop and little punch.... Oh well, you live by the homer, you die by the homer.

Angels stay alive!

I'm predicting an Angels comeback in this one. They finally solved the Red Sox and beat them in the postseason and now they're going to do it two more times en route to the ALCS. By the way, I have no bias here, so this is just an intuition-based pick. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but I honestly believe the Angels will beat the Red Sox.

I think it either ends tonight, or Angels win in 5. That's my prediction.

They just showed one of my chef's from culinary school during the White Sox game. I wonder if she is catering the game. Hmmmmm...
