50,000+ Iraqi civilians have died in this space of time due to the ongoing war in Iraq, be it by the allied troops, or the now rampant terroists in the country.
3,000 or so die on 9/11, 50+ on 7/7, 191 in Madrid etc. and thousands more due to more terroist attacks in history all over the world. On the anniversaries of these events we see outpouring of grief and tributes from all round the world. But why no day of grievance for the Iraqi lives lost? Is a westeners life worth more? Are we just forgetting the deaths and still blindly telling ourselves Iraq was the right thing to do?
It just angers me that we see this grief today (and rightly so) when 'our' people are attacked. But when thousands of people die wrongly due to decisions our countries made we ignore it, we read then move on, it means nothing to us. It seems in our culture some lives are worth more, and as long as we get our way, whatever the means, be it ******* civilians then fuck the rest of the world, we'll do it.
A life is a life, all equal, and all should be remembered equally.
