You don't have to, when the game ends it automatically takes you to the point where the DLC kicks in. So play through it normally, see the **** endings, download the new stuff and reload your save file - Everything should follow on normally!

The DLC is most noticeable in the final scenes leading up to what is your decision in ending the war.
