Many characters are DLC. 'bout the last 10 years or so. Some games (killer instinct, for one.) give you one or two char's per week to use until you purchase full game. Some are paywalled but you can, in theory, play enough to get them normally. Star Wars new battlefront game gave you premium...

One of the dumbest and yet aesthetically pleasing (so they say) things, is offering a 'grippy' on the slider so your virtual hand/finger can scroll, better.
