I dont' think the budgets were all that great since under Mulroney. He had budget deficits every year of his tenure and his inability to decrease them or the debt was what made the major cuts by Chretien's government necessary. For a conservative he wasn't very good with money. And then there was the whole GST debacle and the fact that he couldn't hold the country together despite his eloquency and his mutual appeal in English Canada and Quebec. Tried solving the Quebec problem and created the Western problem....

That's the first time I have ever heard the words "Brian Mulroney" and "fiscally responsible" in the same sentence.
I wouldn't really call it new since it's the same party they've had since the 70s, but it's one Conservative government I can live with. They aren't a carbon copy of the federal Conservatives like the Wild Rose Party is (the WRP actually had a candidate come out and say he wanted gay marriage to be unlegalized and they didn't shut him up, so that shows you where they're coming from) so I can live with it. Obviously I would have preferred the Liberals but that would have never happened, so the PCs I can live with.
Of course, I try not to discriminate. It's a form of respect, because I hold the same standard of intelligence for OCSM's as I do any other member.
