I liked it overall, but there were bits that I thought were stupid, unnecessary humor. The scene where Bilbo's sneaking around the troll campfire had some stupid bits. The goblin king was pretty stupid. Other than a few bits of stupid humor I thought it was great. I wasn't fond of the idea of turning the book into a trilogy, but so far it doesn't seem like it'll be overstretching the story. I can't wait for the Battle of Five Armies!

I have no doubt, I've seen a lot of pictures of European winters and I think they all look amazing. We can have pretty winters here, but I think there's something about the mixture of climate, culture, and architecture there that ends up being breathtaking.
