I'm American and I think we sound like **** too. It's embarrassing sometimes.

Now, this race was great. A rather weird starting grid situation, but it made for extra tension.

Formula 1 Driver Capitalizes On Unique Situation, Wins Race

As he was starting 22nd, it was clear coming into today's Chinese Grand Prix that Lewis Hamilton's day would be difficult. Even Hamilton wouldn't have guessed just how difficult the race would be, as early damage ****** the 2015 series champion to stop no less than five times in a race in which the winner stopped just twice. Nonetheless, he fought back valiantly to a points finish, and after passing 18 cars and only being ****** twice, he would finish an impressive seventh on the weekend. That, however, was not enough to stop him from losing serious ground on teammate Nico Rosberg.

...

And the top teams becoming closer in regards of performance, the race was packed with tensions, as it wasn't as easy for the usual suspects to just put the foot down and get away from the field. Vettel was a prime example. Of course, being the guy he is, he viewed the other driver as a "madman", whereas that guy just drove competitive and got the best of the turn.

Can't wait for the next race!

Talk about knee jerk reactions.

Verstappen and Kyvat swap places after Sochi, I don't doubt that Verstappen deserves his chance to drive for the A team but this feels extremely harsh on Kyvat. The previous race he was on the podium and last year he outscored Ricciardo! I think Dr Marko is playing favourites again and is behind this change but I'm rather biased against him after reading Webber's autobiography.

What do guys think of red bulls new windscreen cockpit that they tested in Russia today?

Man, I missed that race because my TV broke down finally. Getting a new flatscreen, no more tube behemoth.

But I digrss.

I think this new concept a big step in the right direction

Haven't read Webber's book yet but I plan on doing so - but I don't need to in order to know that Marko is a jerk (to put it mildly)

I think this is pretty disgusting really, way over the top and harsh in the extreme.

Let's forget about China as his move on Vettel was perfecty fine and Sebastian made a prat of himself.

The first corner ram up the back of Vettel in Russia however was 100% Kvyat's fault though but less so the second incident. That was unfortunate and could have happened to anyone. Are you telling me every other driver on the grid would have miraculously avoided Vettel who took his foot of the gas in front of them mid-corner?

Kvyat had been put under pressure in the early part of last season by Marko and he responded with a strong second half of the season. He finished ahead of Ricciardo in the championship let's not forget.

Now one bad race (having been on the podium in the race before) and he's demoted?

What a load of rubbish and I feel incredibly sorry for Daniil. If they wanted Verstappen in the team then why didn't they do the switch in the winter? Why wait four races into the season? Marko had clearly made his mind up about Daniil or more to the point prefers Max so jumped on this as the excuse he was looking for to execute the change.

Good job Pastor Maldonado wasn't part of the Red Bull driving programme, that's all I can say.

I was just thinking about Pastor too. It really shows what his money meant to lotus based on what they were willing to put up with.

But I totally agree about Kyvat. So harsh. helmut Marko can be a jerk. I **** how Christian Horner spoke out claiming that this isn't a demotion and that this is actually good for Danii.

Congrats on the new TV!

I think it's pretty cool. Better than the halo concepts Ferrari and Mercedes have.

Them switching Kvyat wasn't just a knee jerk reaction from the last race by any means, in my opinion. Sure, he got a podium in China but Ricciardo still outpaced him during that race. Don't forget Ricciardo had a punctured tire, and came back from last place to finish only six seconds behind Kvyat in fourth. Podium doesn't look as sweet to the team in that regard, especially since he has been inconsistent in the RB12. Add all that together with the drama in Russia and it was a perfect opening for them to secure Verstappen on the Red Bull team. Kvyat is NOT a world champion, period. They look at Verstappen and see opportunity. Anyone who takes a second to look at Kvyat vs. Verstappens career BEFORE F1 can see that.

I suppose it could be considered harsh, but Red Bull isn't there to make friends. They are there to win championships, and they made that very clear from the start. When you're putting billions of dollars into a competitive sport, you want the best of the best. Helmut Marko doesn't get paid to be nice, so who cares if he is a jerk? If people would stop worrying about feelings and start looking at it from a business perspective (which I guarantee is what Red Bull does) Kvyat isn't getting it done. He may have finished higher last year in the championship rankings, but he is inconsistent across the board. Look at the stats and you will see that is the truth, regardless of how it looks at first glance. They WOULD have lost Verstappen to either Ferrari or Mercedes, and this switch was 100% planned before the drama of this last race. Russia just created an opening to secure him faster.

And sure people will also bitch about "but Max has time on his hands"... what does that have to do with anything? Red Bull wants to win. If Verstappen is the better option, why wait? And If you're going to come at this with his "inexperience and his young driving" I call bullshit. That *** has been behind a wheel before he was able to form complete sentences. He is not inexperienced. He has been driving competitively for 14 years. He has 23 Karting Championships. He can take the pressure. Red Bull realizes this, and the only reason Kvyat was promoted to Red Bull in the first place is because they were ****** into it by Vettel leaving. They said "prove yourself" and he didn't.

You're a cold-hearted woman, Ivy!

Do I think that Max Verstappen is a world champion in the making? Yes. Do I think Kvyat is? Probably not. But Red Bull aren't currently a world championship winning team. McLaren having two world champions isn't doing them much good. Up until the last race, you could have made a case for Vandoorne replacing either Alonso or Button on the basis that he has more potential and that he had scored points for the team whereas they hadn't!

I agree that it wasn't a knee-jerk reaction in as much as it was all planned out, they merely used it as a trigger to execute their plan. As previously stated, I don't doubt that it was Marko's agenda to have Kvyat replaced at the first opportunity - and it must've really wrangled with him that Daniil finished ahead of Ricciardo in last season's championship otherwise he'd have had more of a case to do it in the winter. If it had've been done then, there wouldn't be such a furore about the whole thing as everyone may have already anticipated a promotion such was everyone's excitement over Verstappen's potential. However, doing it in this manner has humiliated Kvyat on the back of one mistake. No other driver on the grid would be replaced for a one-off incident like this.

In other words, he has been made an example of for the appalling crime of not being as good as Max Verstappen - one of those drivers of the calibre that comes along once in a blue moon, as opposed to doing anything wrong. The inference is that he's done something truly unacceptable whereas the truth is they just prefer Max. So I again say, why not promote Max during the close-season rather than being such jerks about the whole thing.

The ruthless and calculated nature of the whole thing is what I have an issue with, but you seem to think it is perfectly acceptable in which case of course we're not going to agree. To drop him is one thing but Marko needs to not also come out with bullshit remarks like "this is not a demotion" and "we want to help his career instead of harm it". The poor bloke will be crushed at this moment in time.

I think you're also proving once again Ivy that hot girls are attracted to heartless behavior such as this and why us sensitive folk with hearts don't stand a chance. :D

You're just saying that to get with Ivy. She'll soon see through you. Give it up ;)

I agree that she has a point. Verstappen does have a better history that Kyvat and I have no problems with him getting a chance. I am confused however as to why this change didn't happen in the winter though. It feels like Kyvat's performances were too good and they were waiting for an excuse to swap him out and that Sochi calamity gave them that chance.

I don't think you can predict weither or not someone is going to be world champion based on carrier history alone. Just look at James Hunt "the shunt"
