I would tend to think "breath taking". Which doesn't sound as pleasing, but is kind of more accurate, at least for me. I always kind of assumed that when someone told someone that they "take my breath away" that it was figurative, based on the fact that sometimes people will gasp a little when faced with something unexpectedly captivating.
