I'm so happy i wasn't alive in the 70s

The 80s really weren't much better...I remember my *** teasing my bangs up to form a brick wall (after all the hairspray) and the spandex. *shudder*

Thankfully Kurt Cobain saved us in the 90s and it went to skater wear. ;-)

OK, the hair styles were atrocious, I grant you. But in the '70s defense, we had the Doobies, Led Zep, the Grateful Dead's best years, Starsky & Hutch, Pryor and Carlin at their peaks, the original SNL and Ali, Frazier and Foreman. There was no cable TV, no 24/7 news or anything else, 1/10th of the reporters and lawyers that there are now, and Bugs Bunny reigned supreme on Saturday morning.

I have no problem saying that I miss the '70s and I have nothing but disdain and loathing for the '80s.

If you remember the 70's, you weren't there. :joint:

To be honest the below examples will not make me go proud of the 2000's either, in a decade.

Every decade has an ugly side.

^^^ This

I think we all have "our time". So we tend to remember the good stuff from whenever that is/was. I remember the 80's as "my time" and I remember (only) the good stuff from the 80's. There were a lot of bad things, but I choose to gloss over them. A lot of people look back at the 60's as probably the most exciting time to be alive in recent memory. And to be honest, even though I was too little to remember much of it, I'd probably agree with that. What with Vietnam, the Civil Rights movement, assassinations of national leaders, protests in the streets, all the other social upheaval, the amazing music and artists and ground breaking TV series and movies, yeah, the 60's would be hard to beat. Plus (cause I'm a gearhead), you had some of the most amazing cars ever built hitting the roads back then. Just like the 70's **** over into the 80's, the 60's **** over into the 70's. But it seems like once the 70's took root, it did kind of suck (clothes, music, cars, politics, etc.). But there were good things about the 70's... the 80's, the 90's and every other time. No time is perfect or ideal. And no time is all bad.

What with politicians being about as corrupt as they've ever been, music that truly sucks balls, reality TV now dominating the landscape and people being all fragile and self-absorbed, I think this is a relatively horrible time to be alive. But at least there are no world wars or anything. There are some amazing things now being done with computing devices. And there are some great cars at affordable prices on the road. So I guess I'll ride it out and hang around for a bit longer. Hell, who knows, it might get better - at least The Rolling Stones are still around. But let a genie grant my wish and I'll be back in the 1980's in a flash! Just me, my Jag XJS, my white Versace suit (with a pastel t-shirt and no socks, of course! :D) and hopefully Ginger Lynn or Christy Canyon (with their poodle hairdos and full bushes ;)) sitting on my lap... while we listen to Tears for Fears and watch Ayrton Senna set fastest laps at Monaco. Then we'll watch Ferris Bueller's Day Off for the 700th time (Mia Sara was so cute!). Yes! :nanner: And please, do not **** me up if I'm smiling.

Great post, Rey! Hey, if I had a Twilight Zone moment and got to thump the needle back to the 80's I wouldn't hesitate even a second, especially if I got to go back knowing everything I know now. Yeah, November 5, 1985, here I come.

Silly me; I remember some of the '70s, and I'm just happy to be alive now. I believe my star is still rising.

I will say this: I'm glad I grew up when I did.

Oh yeah! Imagine going back and knowing what we know now! :nanner: I'd definitely get that investment banking job at Drexel Burnham Lambert I always wanted too... what with being able to predict every move in the market with incredible accuracy. ****, Michael Milken would be my bitch! :D

It would have to be like in Groundhog Day though - cause I'd probably die from something at least once a week. Every Saturday night around 3AM, I'd have to die... then **** up on Sunday morning with the New York Times Weekend Edition... and Christy and Ginger (of course).

Seems like a really ridiculous time period.

That made you glad you weren't alive in the '70s? You should be glad you were watching the commercials instead of the Christmas Special itself... *shudder*

Everything after 1999 has been worse.

Take Jimmy Carter out fo the 70's and the false gas shortage and the 70's would be better.

Just about everything.
