$535 million stimulus enriched solar panel mfgr goes bankrupt
*Big hug for Hot Mega*
Let me be clear: I'm not taking sides in a political debate here. I'm just stating my own humble opinion based on news I've seen/read and drawing my own conclusions. So there's no need to unleash the ****** hounds, my liberal friends. I'm not looking for a fight. :angels:
It was just a matter of time for that company to fail. And others will follow, I suspect. :2 cents: You can build all the solar panels and wind turbines you want, but there will NEVER be enough to even meet a fraction of the world's energy needs. As a country, America should focus on its own fossil fuel resources (and thus be less dependent on other countries) in the short-term and combine them with the paltry output of so-called green energy resources. In the decades to come, as we exhaust oil, coal and natural gas, we need to accept the simple reality that nuke power is the only thing that's going to maintain civilization as we know it -- unless the eggheads in the labs figure out how to harness the power of nuclear fusion. The cynical side of me strongly suspects we might've had that tech breakthru already except for one problem: A simple, clean, infinitely renewable energy source is not very profitable. It's the same way with cars. We have the know-how to build a nearly crash-proof, cheap automobile with massively efficient gas mileage that will last for 300,000 miles or more. But where's the profit for automakers to produce a car that will last for years and not need spare parts? They want people buying new cars every 3-4 years and get "regular" maintenance using company-approved parts.
