20 years ago today... I remember it like it was yesterday

Columbus's own James Buster Douglass stunned the world by beating the invincible Mike Tyson to be the Heavyweight Champion of the World.

For those only old enough to remember the freak, in 1990 Mike Tyson was invincible, he won most his fights in the first round, he was an assassin, his competitors were scared to death of him, most people thought he was by far the greatest boxer…..ever.

me too, i remember where i was and that i was pissed because the place wasnt showing the fight.
i figured it would have been just another 1st round KO.
then a bunch of guys came in saying tyson lost, got Ko'ed.
then i was more pissed that i'd missed it.

good fight, ive seen it many times, i liked the fight where holyfield beat him too.

"it was twenty years ago today"
buster douglas made tyson pay
he's been comin in and out of jail
cause his mentality is kind of frail

take it away frankie!

Yeah I remember it well. I wish I would have had the balls to put down about $10 grand on Douglas at a 42-1 shot. One of the greatest upsets in all of sports history.

I can remember a time when I believed "Mike Tyson's Punchout" was the pinnacle of video game evolution. I hated Soda Popinski.

Buster Douglas has also gone on to be a successful businessman. He is not selling grills, biting ears, having numerous ******** with several different women, he is not losing his mansion, has not had a dishonorable discharge from the army, he was not believed to be secretly gay, nor has he broke down ****** in the ring.

Tyson never recovered from that fight , he became mediocre after being knocked on his arse , this fight was the beginning of the end of Mike Tyson

I was watched the fight at a buddy's place on campus of OSU. After the fight everyone puored into the streets and we were all celebrating pretty late.

The one and only.
I was 7 years old at the time, but I remember going to watch the fight at my parents' friend's house. That night ended up being the 2nd time I cried after a sporting event - I was devastated when "Iron Mike" lost. Nine months earlier, I had cried when Emerson Fittipaldi put Al Jr. in the wall at the Indy 500. I think this was the beginning of my obsession with sports. And it isn't always healthy...
