NBA 2009/2010 Thread

Didn't see it yet so here goes.....

Raptors wooped the Cavs last night. Is it too soon to say the Shaq Lebron show is never going to work??

I think Portland can make some noise in the playoffs. They're a deep team, and their length gives the Lakers fits.

San Antonio could win it all. They might be the deepest team in the league. Health is the only issue with them.

I don't think there is really any challengers for Boston in the East. Cleveland is a one man show. I can't see Orlando with Vince Carter having the same impact. Turkoglu made them a great team because he could switch from the 1,2 and 3 positions. Now they have become a conventional lineup and won't be able to exploit all the mismatches Turkoglu provided.

Washington is on team that could upset some of the top teams though. They are stacked, talented as fuck and Flip Saunders is a much better coach than Eddie Jordan and his :1orglaugh Princeton Offense. Although health is always an issue with the Wiz, and they'll need a high seed to avoid playing the top 3 teams in the playoffs.

I am going to go out on a limb here and say...

Washington/Boston in the East.

Lakers/Spurs in the West.

Lakers repeat.

Never too soon give them a little time it could work but then on the other hand Shaq is not the same Shaq he was 5 years ago.Plus the Magic retooled along with the Celtics.Watch out for the Spurs I see them paying the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals and in the East it will go down to the Celtics and Magic.:hatsoff:

go Spurs!!!

Did anyone see the Oklahoma City Thunder? They looked awesome! I think they easily make the playoffs.

My Heat looked pretty damn good too. Dwyane Wade 26 pts, Michael Beasley 21 pts, Jermaine O'Neal 22 pts. Pretty good trio.

BTW... why are there two NBA threads? Not that I'm complaining. :D

I think the other thread is a continuation from last years thread. New year, new thread.

Miami did look good, and so did OKC, granted it was against Sacramento. I still can't imagine the Thunder making the playoffs. The west is too top heavy. I can see Durant winning the scoring title though.

Yeah, I'm a bitter Sonics fan that wishes nothing but losing on OKC. But they do look good.
BTW I get radio out of Sacramento and fans were endlessly bitching about their HC already.

We really need 23Lebron's input on this point. I think Shaq signed with the Lebronaliers to :thefinger RUIN THE TEAM :thefinger and not actually win anything.

I really don't believe Lebron wants to stay in Cleveland anyway even if they win a championship. I think Lebron will only play to win the MVP and assure himself of a $300mil contract from the Bricks.

My prediction (in the old thread) of Orlando winning the East is loooooking migty goooood.:thefinger

I think it will be Orlando v Lakers again. It should be an epic 7 game series.

I really think Artest and Kobe are going to get a long great. Artest wants a ring and he will do whatever the coaches or Kobe tell him to do to get one this year. He *may* make mischief on the team after this season...but I think Artest will be a great teammate this year for the Lakers.

Which team will be the shocking shitter team in the East and the West?

I think Dallas circles the drain in the West...
I think Atlanta has a surprisingly bad year in the East...

This may not be a shocker, but considering they took L.A to 7 games last year in the 2nd round, Houston is going to be incredibly bad. I love Ariza, but he's no Artest. They have good role players, but without Artest, Ming and McGrady, they are a lottery team.

My shocker for the East is Cleveland dropping down to maybe 4th seed. I don't think they'll win the division as Detroit is much improved. Teams are going to pick and roll on them all day. Lebron will average 30-9-9 this year, carrying them on his back to his 2nd MVP and an early playoff exit.

Orlando looks good this year as long as they can stay healthy.

I think Carmelo Anthony wins MVP. He looks like a man on a mission.

I've only watched a couple games of Brandon Jennings but he looks for real. I think he'll win Rookie of the Year and the Bucks might get into the playoffs if Redd can stay healthy.

I only have one prediction:

Toronto will suck again.

Jennings is sic. I wanted Rubio to come into the league so he could be embarrassed by Jennings.

You're probably right. They open the season with a dominating win against Cleveland, and then drop two straight to Memphis and a Vince Carterless Orlando team.

Bosh is gone. Toronto can't keep it's stars.

I think Toronto is really talented offensively but their defense is not that good. As soon as they learn how to play with Hedo they will start winning some games. They will probably be a playoff team as long as they don't trade Bosh.

Celtics whipped Philly by 31 tonight. If their old guys stay healthy they could make a run at the Bulls 72 win record.

Ha. 72 wins. Boston is good, but they don't have the greatest player of all time on their team. They'll get 66 tops. And lose to the Lakeshow in June.

Damn, Miami and Oklahoma City lost. :cussing:

The first time I saw Brandon Jennings was in the McDonalds' All-American game sporting a high-top fade. He had some pretty fancy passing and was awesome penetrating to the rim. The first thing I thought was "this kid will be the 1st pick in the NBA draft someday"..... but he fucked it up by going to Italy instead of college.

I'm also surprised to see him scoring so well. I thought he would been a better passer than scorer.
