Obama win preferred in world poll

"People outside the US would prefer Barack Obama to become US president ahead of John McCain, a BBC World Service poll suggests.

Democrat Mr Obama was favoured by a four-to-one margin across the 22,500 people polled in 22 countries.

In 17 countries, the most common view was that US relations with the rest of the world would improve under Mr Obama.

If Republican Mr McCain were elected, the most common view was that relations would remain about the same. "

Fully agree

Plus he said this on tuesday, “You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig. You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called ‘change,’ it’s still going to stink. After eight years, we’ve had enough of the same old thing. It’s time to bring about real change to Washington and that’s the choice you’ve got in this election.”

Well said Barry. We love you, you long legged mack ***** you, and the people of the world love you too.

Ditto that.Lets hope Americans are as smart as they are when they vote.

Well, it's already been proven just how stupid the citizens of the United States are! They voted a retard in twice....well once actually!:D

I know and while it may be not a strong hope I do cling to a little of it.Truth is even with the pubs out of all power if that happens we are so far in trouble I don't see how anyone can really turn the tide.Maybe soften the blows but it will be a rough ride no matter what probably.

om3ga

It's good to be the king...
Wasn't John Kerry also miles ahead in a world poll?

I believe you're right......

(Guess I better bet the house on McCain then)

It's a shame this little piece of information won't likely sway any significant number of voters. Not saying I'm for Obama (though I am most definitely against McCain), but trends such as this one - and the earlier Primary one of the well-educated vote going toward Obama - ought to be saying something. Or, rather, people ought to be listening.

Here's a newsflash for some people.... John McCain is NOT GW Bush! In fact, before McCain had to suck up to the GOP bubbas a little bit to get $$, they HATED each other, and privately still do I'd bet.

Sorry, just had to get that out... All I freaking hear lately is "Not 4 more years of Bush." No offense to anyone in particular, but that's the most ignorant thing I've heard in politics in a long time...

I would agree McCain is not Bush but his election would mean 4 more years of basically the same republican policy's with maybe just a few variations. The idea that he and the republicans can bill themselves as the party of "change" in this election is laughable.

Duh. they don't want their countries to be invaded.

Possibly... but if you really think ANY candidate can "change Washington" then I want to try what you're smoking ;)

Change washington maybe not but I don't accept that there is zero difference in the two parties. Not enough for me but still differences on many issues. And McCain/Palin going around now trying to say they are the "change" candidates again just won't fly.The republicans were in charge of the white house for the last 8 years and congress for 6 of those 8 years. For McCain to have any credibility to claim that he would have to come out and specifically state what he would do differently than what the republicans did for the last 8 years. And he has done exactly the opposite, saying he would preserve the Bush tax cuts(which even he himself once opposed),we might be in Iraq a hundred years(no change from Bush there),being pro-life himself and picking Palin who is even more extreme on all those things than McCain is.So based on that its very fair to say that fundamentaly McCain's election would mean almost zero change and would be 4 more years of Bush politics and policys.

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
Of course they want him to win, he'll hand over all of our tax dollars and guns. To bad you can run for president, and have no concept of sovereignty, and the Constitution.

Care to make a wager? If he wins, I'll bet you whatever amount of money you name that by the time he leaves office (whether via term limits or assassination) the 2nd amendment will be in ***** and intact.

Well, it's already been proven just how stupid the citizens of the United States are! They voted a retard in twice....well once actually!:D

Well, Bush is not a retard, and it wasn't all about stupidity. Let's not forget the administration's fear mongering was at it's zenith in 2004, and proved very effective. But a toned down version of your point is well taken. And it appears eminently possible we'll make the same mistake again, based greatly on still more fear and misinformation.

I was gonna respond the same way Bodie. The anxiety from some about there guns is really a knee-jerk reaction I think. They said the same things about Clinton and yet I don't remember *** rights being abolished or even curtailed very much. And I might be wrong but don't think Obama has even made guns an issue at all.The *** owners can rest easy.Obama and the country have other things to worry about.

Totally agree, Friday.

Wow I didn't initially notice those poll numbers were 4 to 1 in favor of Obama. But it makes sense. It clearly reflects the sense of peril the rest of the world feels due to the misguided recklessness of the Bush administration.

This country needs a statesman. And for the Bush bitter enders who haven't figured it out yet, being a statesman doesn't equate to being a pussy.
