Creation Museum

How could Dinosaurs and people co-exist together? Especially in that "period".

It's probably better you don't ask. Much like evolution is not compatible with creationism, neither is evidence or logical reasoning.

Well you have to keep in mind that according to them that "period" can not be more than 6,000 years ago which is when the world was created. Not the millions of years those silly scientists say.

I don't have any problems with questioning how evolution happened.

Hell, question the very theory itself. I ain't got a problem with them.

But to poor ol' me, "Creationism" is just another fancy term for "the world according to the Bible, the Christian Bible".

If "god" made the world - which way did he (assuming god is a he) do it? The Christian way? The Hindu way? The Zorashtrian way? Funny how all these Creationists and their museums fail to mention those little tid-bits.

Maybe we need to start at square one and decide what to call "god" first - "Yahwey", "Allah", "Zeus", "Brahman" or "Ahura mazhda" ....

cheers,

haven't you ever seen the flinstones? that should answer all your questions about the bible.

Yeah Fred ate Bronto burgers that proves humans and Dinosaurs co-existed wouldn't you say:rofl:

Science encourages questioning. That is not a problem. The problem I have with creationism is that it's claimed to be an alternative. Evolution has flaws and creationism has even managed to point out a few (though quite a lot seems to be based on lack of understanding rather than lack of evidence). Its existence is based on the assumption that showing that other alternatives are not entirely correct means that your idea is. Such a method is only valid if you manage to disprove every other possible theory, but given that there is essentially an infinite number of those, I don't see that happening anytime soon. Fact of the matter is, creationism doesn't have a single shred of evidence supporting itself.

Well said Imagine, let me just add that I doubt mankind will ever know all the answers to how this all came to be.But we know a lot more now than we did not that long ago.The problem is that things like this museum and others who push things as alternatives to science like "Intelligent Design"/"Creationism" are trying to be held up as valid alternatives to true scientific research and knowledge. And be taught in schools as equal theories.
As whacky as you and I may think they are they are fighting and have resources enough that they must be taken seriously.

Legzman

what the fuck you lookin at?
Looks like a complete waste of 25 million bucks to me :dunno:

I took a quote out of it which I thought was rather amusing

Adam and Eve live in the Garden of Eden. ******** play and dinosaurs roam near Eden’s Rivers. The serpent coils cunningly in the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Majestic murals, great masterpieces brimming with pulsating colors and details, provide a backdrop for many of the settings.

Makes me think I grew up in a safe period of time :1orglaugh

You think so?I'm not sure T-rex is really more dangerous than a bunch of 50 megaton bombs:dunno:

Nay. God and Jesus are waaay
cooler!!:hatsoff:

Yeah what miracles can Pez claim your right:crash:

This creationist worldview seems bizarre but it’s seeping into public policy. Park service can’t say how old the Grand Canyon is to not offend creationists.
The following is a quote from Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility:

Grand Canyon National Park is not permitted to give an official estimate of the geologic age of its principal feature, due to pressure from Bush administration appointees. Despite promising a prompt review of its approval for a book claiming the Grand Canyon was created by Noah's flood rather than by geologic ******, more than three years later no review has ever been done and the book remains on sale at the park, according to documents released today by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER).
"In order to avoid offending religious fundamentalists, our National Park Service is under orders to suspend its belief in geology," stated PEER Executive Director Jeff Ruch. "It is disconcerting that the official position of a national park as to the geologic age off the Grand Canyon is ‘no comment.'"

The problem with creationism is the people that speak of it as if it's not a philosophy. Evolution is a scientific theory based on evidence and questions answered under the scientific method. Philosophy isn't science. There is no evidence of creationism. You need to prove things to be true not tell other people that something must be scientific if they can't prove it to be false. By that reasoning I could tell people that mole men from the center of the Earth or extraterrestrial aliens are responsible for every unsolved missing person case in the world. After all you can't prove it not to be true.
