Ouch.. In MetroWest Boston, I topped-off my tank Friday night with Regular Unleaded - for $2.219 a gallon.

In California, we recently voted in favor of paying an additional 12 cent gas tax. Sacramento will probably ask for another additional 12 cents when we forget what the last 12 cents was supposed to be for that we never got.

What sucks the most about that sign, is diesel fuel costs more, but takes less to refine, and in the past has been less $ per gal. I know it doesn't seem like much, but when a fill up is 300 gal., and you might do that a couple of times a week.

Pretty much why people in Texas don't want idiots from California moving there and voting. I got some pretty interesting reactions from Texans when I told them we chose the price increase.

Actually .. most State (*and* Federal) gas taxes haven't been increased in YEARS.. They should be indexed to inflation, IMHO. And, a good time to do it is when gas is "relatively" cheap, so the hit to the wallet isn't too bad.

Then factor in hybrids and EVs use significantly less to no gas - I've read some proposals that people will instead pay .. road taxes (?) like truckers do, based on miles driver per year / in-between State safety inspections.

I own a GMC Sierra with a 5.3 liter V8. I live in a very convenient area and barely fill up my tank once a month. There is a big decrease in the demand for gasoline but it is still around $4 per gallon here. I'm just a complainer but these higher gas prices affect the poor the most as everything else goes up in price because of transportation costs. A spike at the gas pump has a quick and direct relationship to the price of milk, bread, and eggs. Multiply those costs by how many **** you have.

Converting £/litre to $/US gallon the UK is at ~$6.2/US gallon. Think yourself lucky chaps.

I hear ya, Chopper. I was in NZ in 2019, and rented a Ford Focus ST. I got to my destination city and filled it up. It was NOT empty; maybe slightly more than a quarter tank left? The gas cost me $58NZ.

I just rolled past a couple of stations, they were all right around $2.59 per gal, for low octane.

This morning gas is 121.9 cents per litre at most stations or up to 5 cents lower at discount stations. Note that this price includes a federal Canadian carbon tax currently at 6.6 cents per litre set to raise to 11 cents next year on top of all the other taxes we pay on gas in Canada.

After the double conversion into gallons and American dollars, the 121.9 cents comes out to $4.61 per gallon in Canadian dollars or $3.65 USD
