Compared to when I first joined, this place is dead.

I think the Board is alive and well. The Nude Playoffs updates at least twice a week, and has 12+ voters, on the low end. There are at least three other threads where people post pics (e.g., Beat the Challenger). And other general interest stuff (Last Good Movie You Watched).

It was dead when I joined so I missed the golden era myself. Same 15ish regulars now but contributors non the less. If you don't mind topics like "Whose got the best asshole hair" or meal recipes LOL. You dudes keep the politics section busy but you know more about the subject than I ever will. I venture there once in awhile but its just to give an opinion or throw logs in the fire. More members posting would be cool. It was so dead the other day I went through 6 pages of a post(sopposedly golden age) that was bumped about a month ago wishing certain members would return. Even tho I didn't find the members even mildly entertaining, I wish they would return too. Just for the extra trolls, meltdowns and random fuckfoolery Rant over, Carry on. Back to Angelina Jolie post so I can comment again

But yeah, if you just look at Talk ... then again, you have to ask yourself, and everybody in here, really:

What is MY role in this path? Am I a borderline troll and ranter, or am I one who makes this place people want to make more of?

Because a handful of guys are obviously hell bound on running this ship in the ground. So this thread is a tad bit ironic, really.

I rarely comment in the Talk section, but feel I should here.

Several years ago, this forum had about 90,000 active members.

Things were going strong then, but one day, Petra made an announcement that the moderators were banning way too many "trolls" and she was going to allow some trolling-flaming in the Talk Section.

I rarely visited the Talk Section, but I'd seen what happens when this was allowed on other forums and I told Petra she was making a huge mistake. She ignored my advice and several mods and long-time members immediately quit. After that we began a slow slide downhill.

Over the years, I received a lot of PM's from people telling me they were quitting because of the rampant trolling.

Fast forward to now and we have gone from 90,000 down to just over 15,000.

Obviously, I was right, but I never imagined it would get this bad.

Sounds like something you would discuss with Petra privately.

Back in 2004-2005 there wasn’t the massive downloadable free porn sites available as there is now. There is where a good portion of the traffic is going.

I have found the talk section to be interesting at times but gets old fast with just 5 to 12 posters who regularly make comments. The tone has improved lately with suspensions and such. Hopefully it will continue. Otherwise it is a third grade name calling thingy.

I have found people not tolerant of new accounts, so guess what, very few accounts are continued. If people do not like the feel here they will go to to get there stuff elsewhere.

Do you want new posters from more or less people ?

Do you want a discussion among the same 10 posters on a day in day out basis. !!

People do monitor a site with out being a member and get accustomed to it and the user names. I first learned of this site while looking at pictures and kept getting googled to here. I read an article about people and internet porn in the newspaper and remember they talked about tube 8 and got addicted to videos. Personally the vids here are too short at least the free ones are. I like x videos now as they have old stuff and more specialized topics.

I used to think all the talk was uninteresting and why talk with strangers when you can talk with people in person. The private part of it allows you to broach a subject you would never talk about in person.

No offense but a moderator cannot hold opinions? He mainly posts links.
P&R is a separate forum. It doesn’t clog up the general talk section and you have to actually consciously go to that section where you know arguments are going to be taking place. Political discussion can even make likeminded people go at each other.

In terms of really dumbass threads, I'd say it is.

We haven't had anything about being caught creeping or taking highly stalker type pictures of people for a very long time. And I'd say that's a good thing.

I will add though, that there are some threads in "Niche and Fetish Corner" that I rarely visit now and even rarer comment in. Mainly because you can look at a page and it's 90% one poster.

Maybe when the new forum is rolled out, with hopefully some new sub-forums, people will start chatting a bit more. I know there are threads not being created at the moment because people don't want to spoil things for others. Mainly movies, but I'm sure other subjects are not being discussed too.

In my case, I made a decision a long time ago to stay out of the Talk section (for the most part), because of the trolls. I knew if someone came at me guns-blazing, I'd come back dropping nuclear bombs and I didn't want to get caught up in all that ****.

I let that happen once before I became a mod and got into a neg-rep war with some jerk. After 6 weeks, I chopped his million points down to less than zero and he quit the board. At the time, I felt vindicated, but really, I look back now and think how I ****** 6 weeks trying to get even.

Georges has his opinions but he doesn’t seem to target or use his moderating tools to go after people that disagree with him. In fact, he is insulted and ****** and ridiculed regularly and he doesn’t seem to retaliate except with a passing comment. Like you said, moderators have opinions and they express them. A political opinion is going to draw more attention and criticism than which chick is prettier.
Anyway, you seem to moderate behind the scenes and are even handed. Can’t ask for more than that.

I think that you're right that the unleashing of the trolls hurt. But given that SO many forums have lost members or even shut down over the past few years, I wonder how much of that is also connected to the FakeBook affect? And not just Suckaborg's spyware creation, but really, all forms of social media. It seems like a lot of people have gravitated away from message boards and to that form of communication.

Personally, I have no social media accounts. Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Snapchat, blah-blah-blah. I, for one, don't see a reason.

Why do you need to post everything you're doing, or eating? Why do you need to post every opinion you have?

I've seen too many people dig themselves into a world of **** because they posted an opinion that was unpopular, or not worded well. Some people have lost friends, jobs, etc., because of this. It's just stupid.
