I'd maybe go for Muse as my faourite contemporary band.

Greatest rock band ever was definitely The Beatles, although my favourite ever was Pink Floyd.

The other band I'd put into the same category is The Who.

Other great rock bands would include Led Zep, Cream, Yes, Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple (don't know about their albums from the last 20 years), Rainbow, Free, Queen, Marillion, Genesis,
