X Factor blatant lip-syncing

'The competition isn't fake!' X Factor forced to respond to miming accusations after contestant is caught in blatant lip-sync gaffe

It was a spectacular slip-up, when the time came for LeRoy Bell to take his turn in the ensemble rendition of U2's With or Without You, a million viewers heard his vocal BEFORE he started singing.
But if you think last night's X Factor saw the equivalent of the curtain being pulled back to reveal the Wizard of X furiously twiddling decoder knobs, you'd be wrong.

Because Simon Cowell, 51 , isn't that stupid, and today representatives for his Fox show have volunteered the information that for group performances, vocals are always prerecorded.
This might be news to most of us, but the X Factor camp insist that this little procedure ensures that contestants can pour their efforts into where it really counts, the live competitive performances.

A representative told TheWrap.com: 'All survival songs are performed live, with just a backing track.'

'For the group ensemble performance, the vocals are prerecorded to allow acts to concentrate on preparing for their own live competitive performances on Wednesdays.

Do you think people at home are gonna give a fuck about the tracks being pre-recorded??

So lip-syncing in a non-competitive segment of a music show is verboten, but wrestling is a sport?

Just trying to keep the facts straight here

There's nothing wrong with lip-syncing if the vocal is yours to begin with. All singers do it.

In a completion no. :nono:

If someone pays to see someone in concert and they are lip-syncing then they are being ripped off.

Real people doing real jobs can't fake working.

I think the word your looking for is competition. As far as a concert, it depends on what the performer is doing. If they are dancing and singing at the same time, then they will be lip-syncing. It's impossible to sing if you are out of breath. Hell, I've seen Michael Jackson do it sometimes. If they are just standing there the majority of the time like Mariah Carey, then they will probably be singing live.

Typo. :D

Still, a lip-synching "singer" is a rip-off.

You obviously don't realize that Simon is rather conservative in his political views.

Yeah. Those shows are a phony joke, and I won't waste my time with them. But the article is right: Simon isn't stupid. He sure knows Americans.

And if an actor performs a stunt in front of a green screen, or actually uses a stunt double, the movie should be free...
