I feel really sorry for Second Lieutenant Vanessa James. Here comes Chloe Armstrong getting in the way of Vanessa's and Matt relationship and everything goes south. According to Wikipedia and I quote:
"She is having an intimate relationship with First Lieutenant Matthew Scott, which they are trying to keep hidden from other personnel."
No wonder what Vanessa said to Matt and Chloe when she caught them swapping tongues as in "Couldn't find a broom closet?" I assumed that Chloe would hook up with Eli Wallace not Matt.
