Spurs are never going to win CL, and I would love to see Team USA win the WC. Mind you, I hope it is after they disassociate themselves with Nike and their god-awful uniform designs.

Everything wrong with English football/sport, and England generally, is captured in Chopper3000's post.

I'd prefer Australia winning the WC over Everton the CL. I say that saying I wouldn't be happy if the current Aus coach to us to a successful WC, let alone a win. I'm also one of the few fans who'd rather the team win the league over CL. CL, generally speaking, is bullshit comp.

Early days. But the way ManU are going, an England WC win, or EC win, is the only thing ManU fans may have to look forward to for a chance to win any major trophy. Assuming ManU fans like seeing England win.

I loled at the thought that Notts County might win the Champions League.

Well, after the latest result, looks like the '16 Euro or '18 WC is the next chance ManU supporters may experience winning a significant trophy.*

Neither is likely to happen in my life time, but I would much rather see my lot win the Champions League than England win the World Cup. Even removing from the equation my gradual disenchantment with the national side/the FA's running it over the last few years and the fact there are several players I hate in the squad, if your team wins big, it's yours. If England won a major trophy, it would be sharing that celebration with fans of clubs you hate, and they're all dickheads, aren't they? Plus all the fair-weather mongs who go two years at a time without watching a single game then stick those shitty little flags on their cars and paint their faces just because there's a big tournament on the TV. Fuck that. Club > country every time. I still remember watching two of our most important players limping off after the Bulgaria game all those years ago and effectively knackering up half a season for us. Fuck England.

I'm also one of the few fans who'd rather the team win the league over CL. CL, generally speaking, is bullshit comp.

How the hell do you work that out?? It's the best club competition in the world, where the best teams from the best leagues collide, and it provides some of the best games of football every season, year in and year out. It's fucking brilliant.

Although it was more credible when you had to win your league to get into the European Cup. But then, there were fewer awesome games then.

Most of the Man United fans I know couldn't care less about England. Absolutely don't give a shit.

You answered your own question with..

Liverpool and Chelsea's wins were mostly full of shit, I thought. Valencia making finals. It's not quite right.

Most of the Man United fans I know couldn't care less about England. Absolutely don't give a shit.
Most, which implies some do? I'm surprised it's that much.

Liverpool and Chelsea's wins were mostly full of shit, I thought.

This is true. Liverpool pretending to be the best team in Europe when they weren't even the best team in Liverpool, and Chelsea claiming to be the best team in Europe when they were only the third best team in London after 38 league games (a particular dagger in my own heart, that) were laughable. But in both cases, they had both at least beaten a lot of Europe's elite to earn the trophy. Although Liverpool were within one goal and sixty seconds of getting knocked out by Olympiakos in the group stage long before they got to Istanbul, and Chelsea winning in the Allianz because Bastien fucking Schweinsteiger missed a penalty was the height of luck.

But that's sport. I wouldn't want to be shot of a fantastic competition just because sometimes the bad guys win it.

Well, let's just say this. If Everton were to elevate themselves into the serious part of the epl title race, as opposed to just being best of the rest, I would prefer they won an EPL before the CL, even though you don't have to win the EPL to qualify for CL.
