Would A New Sega Console Interest You If It Had New Games And A Virtual Console For Past Sega Games?

These days the only way for a console to distinguish it self from other consoles are the exclusives.
I mean, games that come out both on the Xbox and PS pretty much look and act the same.
So, if Sega would manage to get interesting exclusives then I would consider getting that console.

I had (still have) the Sega Master system (8bit) and the Megadrive (Genesis in the US), still have fond memories of the games.

I really don't see a Sega console coming back. They just didn't have the game development that everyone else had. They have gems, don't get me wrong, but I just don't see it trying to get a foothold in the console wars we have now.

At this point I just don't see what they could bring to the table that would make it worth getting over any other console, and most people would balk at spending the money on yet another console if they already have a Playstation, Xbox or Switch. Back in the day they had some awesome games, but the industry passed them by a long time ago. A lot of the games they were liked for also just don't work in a modern video game environment past 16 bit graphics. I can't even remember the last good Sonic game as an example.

Good points, fellas. I would still probably get a new Sega system as I bought the other ones too. I'd be most interested in the Virtual Console being able to get the past classic Sega games straight from Sega on a system made by Sega. I imagine third parties would be apprehensive to give support to this system but new versions of Afterburner, Altered Beast, Crazy Taxi, Daytona USA, Ecco The Dolphin, Phantasy Zone, Golden Axe, Hang-On, House Of The Dead w/GunCon, Outrun, Phantasy Star, Puyo Puyo, Sega Rally Championship, Shinobi, Sonic The Hedgehog, Space Harrier, Streets Of Rage, Thunder Blade, Thunder Force, Virtua Cop w/GunCon, Virtua Fighter, Virtua Tennis, Virtua On, and Zaxxon would interest me.

Streets of Rage sounds fun to play. That's probably my favourite Sega game of all time. If I see one of those mini consoles dump Mortal Kombat and put SoR 1-3 on there instead, I'll pick one up.

I love Mortal Kombat, but the Sega versions just weren't good.

I loved my Sega Dreamcast - Ready 2 Rumble, Phantasy Star Online, Daytona USA, Crazy Taxi, NBA 2K, and I was in an online NFL 2K league. Amazing that they were able to pull off online multiplayer over a dial up.

If it were reasonably priced ($200 - 300 range), and had current third party games developed for it, I would get it, for mostly the nostalgic value of a virtual console. And I'd love to play a new Sega Rally.

I can hear the boot screen now: :sing: SEGAAAAA!
