So I was reading what movies are planned for the next few years and can't help but notice that Hollywood seems to have decided to remake pretty much every popular movie ever made. Here's some remakes they're working on: The Thing, Nightmare On Elm Street, Child's Play, Evil Dead, The Warriors, Karate Kid, Conan, Death Wish, The Birds, Footloose, The Last Starfighter, Escape From New York, Highlander, Poltergeist etc. I don't know why bacause 9 times out of 10 these movies are horrible. I would figure that people would stop paying to go see this garbage eventually.....:dunno:

So what do you think the worst of the remakes has been so far? I'm going to have to go with Willy Wonka. Not only was it horrible, but it was horrible and starred Johnny Depp. For shame Johnny :nono:

Willy Wonka definitely.

It is worse than just about everything else. Including When A Stranger Calls.

A better thread would be "good hollywood remakes" because the list is much smaller.

If I must choose one and I'm sure I must due to the 'Vote of Die' policy FreeOnes has inforced on all of it's 'poll' threads since its inception and mark my words newbs this is serious. Roald will come to your home in the middle of the night and beat you to death with his weiner. It has happened before and alas, I am certain it'll happen again.

People just won't LISTEN!!! :bawling:
Vote of die motherfucker, motherfucker vote or die.

Anyway, I think I'm going to have to go for The Day The Earth Stood Still. Just awful in everyway.

King Kong from the poll. Others for me include...

The Wild Wild West
Taking of Pelham 1 2 3
The Fly
Maimi Vice
Bewitched
The Manchurian Candidate

Many more.....

Psycho. Hey, I have an idea...let's take a black and white film directed by an icon, filled with actors who are perfect for those rolls; and film it in color, have it directed by an OK director (Van Sant is not horrible, but he is no Al), use a bunch of actors who have absolutely no chance in hell of matching their original counterparts - and film it as the original, reel by reel. Yeah. That'll work. Let's have a colorized remake of The Bicycle Thief, but have this one directed by Robert Iscove, and put Jessica Simpson in the roll of the hapless bicyclist putting up posters.

I have to admit I have not seen hardly any of those remakes but have seen all the originals.Felt like I didn't have to know the originals were far superior.Like your really going to make a new and better Psycho or Planet of the apes or Day the earth stood still.

And now they will try to remake The Birds and Forbidden planet too I think.C'mon hollywood stop with the retreads already, create something new ,develope some better actors lol

I think King Kong is a very good remake. You can tell it wasn't just about the money, he made it with a lot of love for the original, which is very important when it comes to remakes. I don't think it should even be on this list.
