British Guardian has published today a small article about the new way to transfer electricity. This technology, developed by the boffins at MIT, allows electricity to be transferred wirelessly, via electromagnetic field.
During their experiment they have managed to light a buld some 2 metres away from the power source. No wires were harmed during this experiment
This technology apparently is not entirely new. Nicola Tesla has experimented with similar ideas, however was unsuccessful. The energy dissipated before it reached the target.
This is really cool stuff and would be brilliant if we could remove at least half the wires that pollute our living rooms. However, one cannot help but question the health implications of this gimmick. I somehow doubt that transferring high amounts of electricity would not amount to ionizing radiation.
