i recently was gifted a mac desktop. it looks pretty gorgeous but im not sure what kind of muscle its got yet. its gotta be a better system than the piece of shit PC im currently using though.

surprisingly, im a bit nervous to switch over. its been a long fucking time since i used a mac.

so whats the real deal here?

is it going to be a completely different world or what? will everything i know about computers go out the window?

It's basically the same. Anybody that has any sort of basic knowledge can run a mac no problem. Macs are computers for people who don't know how to/don't want to know how to use computers.

One question......

WHY?

well. recently my vaio laptop kicked the bucket. some fucked up windows error killed my hard drive and erased it. best computer i ever owned. so i got this used tower to hold me over and its not all that great.

then someone gave me the mac desktop. ive always heard macs were supposedly so much better and this and that.

so far, im not seeing much of a "go mac!" response. im surprised. i figured there were more mac users around here.

We cannot answer that to we know what you use a computer for .If you into games and business apps than windows shines, If you into multimedia and education than Mac shines . If you into your own server or web site than Linux shines do to better security .

Mac computers are more user friendly and more for the collage person,Where Windows more for the business and hardore gamers .

I have both PC's running windows 7 and Macs and computers running Linux.

But I will tell you want I will never internet surf with PC again at least not running as a full admin but as a guess account.

On side note I must say that Mac are starting to be more business friendly now with like iworks and office for macs version one can buy.

been a spate of virus attacks on Macs recently , so have your wits about u -- and make sure your virus/malware definitions are up to date. I use both Windows 7 and Snow Leopard OS. both have pros and cons tbh.

A couple years back, I knew a guy who had a Mac with Windows installed on it. He said it ran a lot faster than a regular PC with Windows. It certainly had a lot of cool features.

Quoted, because he's entirely fucking right.

I have a mac at work. Least stable computer I have ever had the misfortune to work on.

Congrats on your coming-out.

:1orglaugh dick!

but anyway, im surprised. personally, i would never have bought one, it was just given to me. ill play with it sometime and see whats up.

my biggest reservations are all the programs im comfortable with on windows not working the same on mac. ive seen a lot of stuff out there that dont have that download-for-mac option.

oh well.

No. It's not going to be radically different. I've had mine for nearly a year now. It works very well, you can get free apps that are useful (check out the App Store), and you can adjust pretty easily. I think you will like it better than your PC. I sure like my Mac more than any PC I've ever dealt with.

Welcome to the light side! It might be a slightly different at first, but soon you'll adapt and you'll wonder how you ever lived without one.
