I understand the spirit of competition in sports, but why are sports so important and how is it helpful to the world? Sure it helps with being fit and healthy, but there are more beneficial ways of becoming fit and healthy.
I can pick your post apart in a thousand ways, but I won't. Sports draw people together and give them hope.I understand the spirit of competition in sports, but why are sports so important and how is it helpful to the world? I like to show support for my teams. I suppose I could be out hunting pokemon instead but I work hard, sometimes 60+hrs a week. I look forward to my weekend games and my GF understands that. Me and about a half dozen or so friends(male and female) sitting in front of a 60"tv drinking booze, smoking weed, eating food, Beer Pong at halftime etc. What's not to like? I suppose I could be out on the street committing crimes???i think it's an escape from life

What if you playing a sports video game?some do not exercise like running or at a gym and sports are fun and can be healthy
if your watching it is entertaining like many things and it does give hope and inspiration
I would rather watch a good tennis match than win at a computer video game
I used to go to Red Wings games a lot. It was $35 for a seat and then the players went on strike and demanded more money. As if these players 20+ mil a years wasn't enough. So after a 5 month lockout what did the hockey admin do? Raise ticket and concession prices(more than $80 fucking dollars a ticket now). Let's penalize the fan so you can make your millions. I haven't watched hockey since the lockout. I won't, I burned all my hockey paraphenalia after that. And if football ever pulls that shit I will stop watching that to.How are sports important? Simple: $ Money $
Tickets, Sponsorships, TV rights, Merchandising... you name it, sports has a part in it. Just look at the most popular sports in world and you'll see a direct correlation to those that are the most popular.
Aside from supporting the world economy, the money is important as it also represents a way for many to break out of poverty; Soccer/football being a prime example.
Ah, good 'ol JL. I have fond memories of the place from watching a Wings/Coyotes game. The game wasn't exceptional, but we were eating at Coach Insigna at the Ren Center and met Gretzky in the washroom. Talked hockey for literally a minute (the time to take a piss & wash hands). Definitely my hockey highlight of my life.I used to go to Red Wings games a lot. It was $35 for a seat and then the players went on strike and demanded more money.
