I was never a Star Trek or even Star Wars guy. I just knew I wanted those glasses the dude from reading rainbow wore on the show.

James T Kirk was an intergalactic pimp, hitting every type of broad out there and maybe a tribble or two, but I gotta go with Picard, he was a badass borg fighting mutherfuckah

It's good to be the king...
Sisko...just shading Kirk

Curious how most people say that about picard when Janeway did a lot more damage to the borg comparatively.

I've seen the original series, but my dad grew up on that one. I grew up on TNG. I even had little figurines as a kid, as well as a die-cast Enterprise that never stayed together.

The only POSSIBLE ANSWER to this Q is Capt. James T Kirk! Not only was/is he the original intergalactic badass...but none of those other chumps would have a career w/o JTK....

Kirk is the man....

janeway was too whiny, always talking about feelings and "random human kindness". as if she were on a soap opera, and not on a starship. and voyager as a whole sucks when you comp-are it to TNG or DS9, so janeway will never be as popular as picard/sisko or the. original. captain. of. the. enterprise. yes, he does talk like that... :D

also, picard is the only one here who has manners, is educated and fights the borg. he alos gets tortured by the cardassians (defiant til the end), and unlike Q, who is omnipotent FFS, picard is not afraid of guinan.

and archer shouldn't be included on this list, enterprise was a disgrace to all things trek. he is like the wesley crusher of captains.

Star Trek: The Next Generation for me always, so Jean Luc is the best Captain there ever was.

The picard manouvre is pretty lame when you compare it to the "riker maneuvre" or "siskos run".
I will give it you that in comparison to the "riker maneuver" it is less dramatic, as for siskos run I am actually not that familiar with it, never really got into ds9 and my friend google was of no help.
I guess my point is that something like the Picard maneuver just helps to build the legacy of the greatest captain imo. :)

She also had the help of a whole new intergalactic species that was resistant to the Borg, a good Borg with technology borrowed from centuries in the future, a former Borg that became a member of the crew, and had one event, while very damaging to the Borg, where she was helped by her future self. Pickard and the crew of the Enterprise had to find ways out of almost totally hopeless situations with them multiple times.

Siskos run came from the episode "sacrifice of angels", sisko leads a charge of 600 ships againt a dominion fleet double the size of his own. His is the only ship to break through the lines and reach DS9, its quite a feiry escape, flanked by three birds of prey he charges a dominion destroyer and while the other ships are destroyed in its explosion, the defiant charges on. Its quite impressive, youtube it.

I'll be the lone voice of dissent - as usual - :), saying Janeway. She took in Seven of Nine Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix Zero One. (Love saying that).

She battled everyone - note how almost every species is hostile. (Humans and their need for fights). She was emulated, discussed, hero worshipped. She never gave up after years of returning home. She kept her arms aloft for hours somewhere in S1 trying to save Kes.

She kept regs going no matter what. She had a terrible dark side. I tell you there where times I even shivered, watching the show, in anticipation of Janeway's wrath.

The first 3 1/2 seasons were yucky, admittedly. But once Jeri Ryan joined, it really picked up. She finally had another person to bang heads against other than Torres.

I like her emotion.
