Those consumer DNA tests are not accurate, because the databases they use are too small, they are probably only able to tell you what races make up your DNA.
They couldn't tell you what country or ethnicity your ancestors were from.

Most probably. But the fact that some folks trust them, try to used them to prove how "pure" they are and are disapointed by the results is priceless.
In fact, it's just basic maths : they believed in a bullshit concept, they used a bullshit method to prove their point and they got funny results ; negative x negative = positive

In my instance, the results are valid. I have verified them from a number of different angles and they come up as being totally legit as they apply to my lineage. As a result, I was able to trace my roots all the way back to Northumberland in England when Henry VIII ruled England. The problem with Ancestry.com's family trees is that a lot of people connect dots that simply aren't there. Lots of them trace ancestors back to medieval times and more based on the flimsiest of evidence. There are more trees that trace roots back to Clovis than you can possibly imagine which, if they were indeed true, would make Clovis' immediate family by far the most prolific pro-creators in the course of human history. Unfortunately, there is nothing in place on that website to validate any such claims so they are visible in bunches. As far as the DNA side of it applicable to ethnic and racial makeup is concerned I believe that sites like 23&Me.com are very accurate. You entire genome is broken down so matches from others are indeed legit (which I have also verified on my own so I am satisfied). There may be others that are not legitimate but, speaking strictly for these two sites, I can attest to their veracity.

I actually might take one of these gene tests. I'm adopted so I've actually skated through my life without a frikkin clue where the Motherland is. 1) Contrary to these white supremacist who did ask for these DNA testing, she did not, the DNA testing was a aprt of the show she agreed to go through but it wasn't her who wanted to do that
2) The title of the video is deceiving : she did not made any negative coments about her results. Her first reaction after the results were announced was "Wow, that's great !"
3) the results are presented in a deceiving way, a way that requires them to be explained : They says she is "13% indigenous american" and "87% european". Jessica Alba has soem mexican ancestry but only on her father's side (both of her father's side grand parents were mexican immigrants). During the XVIth century, Spain conquered and colonised mexico, most of the indegenous population died. So, the fact that she's only 13% indegenous american doesn't mean she'sonly 13% mexican.

Race and science don't mix 'cause sciences tells us that, biologicaly speaking, there's no such things a multiple human races, there's only one race : humans.
