Which new Albums due out in 2013 are you looking forward to hearing?

These days I find it hard to keep track of every new album from the bands/artists I follow and harder still to know what albums from new groups are worth listening to. So a few slip under the radar and I end up listening to them many months later. So I thought a thread based on upcoming albums for this year might be a good idea. Post the albums you are looking forward to hearing when they come out.

Personally this seems like it could be a big year for new music as quite a few of my fav bands seem to be recording or writing at the moment.
Tomahawk and Voivod have new albums due out in the coming week or two. Dave Grohl's Sound City Soundtrack comes out in Feb from memory and looks like an interesting collaboration.
Sevendust, Alice In Chains, Filter, Queens Of The Stone Age and Sanctuary should have albums out by mid year.
Other bands which hopefully release new albums are Tool (who knows if this really will be the year as they don't rush anything), Pearl Jam, The Tea Party, John Butler Trio, Dream Theater, Megadeth and Iron Maiden.
Anthrax have an album of covers coming out which could be interesting, if it's anything close to their version of Got The Time will definitely be worth checking out. Queensryche with a new lead singer should have a new album but I have reservations and will wait till I here it before I get excited about that one.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs and MGMT should have new stuff this year. Arcade Fire too. I don't know release dates though. Hopefully before the summer. The Suburbs was siiiiic.

I actually devoured three albums yesterday that I was very eager to listen to and every single one of those was vell worth every second, so no disappointments there, quite on the contrary. NIGHTFALL's "Cassiopeia" for me is a true masterpiece of the blending of all sorts of Metal genres, Black, Death, Doom, Gothic. It's brutal, melodic, colossal, just the perfect mix that ultimately has created "Cassiopeia". SAILLE's "Ritu" on the other hand is Atmospheric Black Metal at its best whereas ENSHADOWED's "Magic Chaos Psychedelia" is pretty much straight forward Black Metal with a few hints Symphonic hints here and there.

As for things to come, well, right on top of my 2013 list of Metal albums is definitely "Obsideo" by PESTILENCE. I absolutely love "Testimony Of The Ancients", in my opinion one of the best Death Metal albums ever made, and while I didn't lose interest completely as the years progressed and PESTILENCE put a little bit too much Jazz and other stuff into their music, Obsideo, according to Patrick Mameli no less, is a back to the roots affair. Their most brutal album ever, again according to the man himself.

(Strictly speaking should "Obsideo" not be allowed on this very list since recording has just started and it's doubtful it will be released in 2013, but fuck it, I'm just too damn excited)

Well, then there's DARKTHRONE's new creation "The Underground Resistance" (February 25) which Fenriz obviously described as 'not your typical DARKTHRONE album'. So there could be a surprise in store for us, or not. Either way, this one will kick our humble asses, as DARKTHRONE albums always do.

When Valfar died and WINDIR was disbanded, VREID rose from the ashes and they have already put out five albums with "Welcome, Farewell" (February 22) being their sixth. The cover artwork alone is so crazy good, I can only imagine what the actual music will be like, definitely Melodic Black Metal at its highest level.

It's already been four years since "Blood Oath" so it's about time that SUFFOCATION will release a new album and I'm really looking forward to "Pinnacle of Bedlam", not only because of another piece of great cover artwork. No nonsense Brutal Death Metal, that's what we want.

When NILE is taking a year off, we can always turn to SCARAB, an Egyptian Death Metal band who sounds a little bit like their brethren from th States, but have definitely developed their own style of Oriental influenced Technical Death Metal. Too bad their second album "Serpents Of The Nile" is set to be released at the end of the year, December 2013 actually, but I'm pretty sure it will be well worth the wait.

It's been a while since "Thy Mighty Contract" and ROTTING CHRIST have definitely evolved and developed into a major force within the Metal spectrum and I'm always excited when they've got new material to put out, so "Κατα Τον Δαιμονα Εαυτου" (March 1) should also be a good one.

When I'm not in the mood for all this Metal music, I'm actually looking forward to Bowie's new album "The Next Day" (March 8), or Swedish Folk/Indie Pop JACK MOY & GLÖDEN'S debut "Drink Drank Drunk".

the new nirvana albu-

fuck.

Nirvana was a poop band that was extremely over-hyped by teenagers who'd never heard any actual musicians. Grohl was the only decent member, and he's improved a shitload since then.

Only thing that's really on my radar right now is the new Queens Of The Stone Age record. It was supposed to be out last year, but when does anything ever come out when it's supposed to?

grohl sucks big saggy balls and sucks in life and sucks at combing his hair and probably sucks at cooking as well as eating.

I'm surprised you even know who he is, what with you living in your secluded, vegan hipster cave. ;)

As for Grohl, I'm not a Foo Fighters fan (don't hate them but... meh), but he's about as solid a hard rock drummer as you're going to find. His stuff on QOSTA's Songs For The Deaf was beastly, and I've liked everything I've heard from Them Crooked Vultures. I guess he just needs Josh Homme to bring out the best in him, which is probably why he's doing the drums on the new Queens record.

I liked Dave's Probot album as well, it showed he could potentially drum for a lot of metal bands. I also think maybe Dave brings out the best in Josh, they do seem to have good musical chemistry. Makes for some pretty high expectations for the new record, surely it's gotta be better than Era Vulgaris.

I completely forgot about Probot. That record is sick. Wino, Lemmy and King Diamond on one record? Fucking awesome.

Queensryche's next album!

For the first time in many years I'm lookin' forward to hearing a new album by them, now that Tate is gone....I hope it's good.

Cheers

If it wasn't for Dave Grohl I wouldn't have heard of and therefore checked out bands like Voivod, Cathedral and Corrosion Of Conformity.

I came across this and apparently Mastodon and Scars Of Broadway are working on new albums which would be great news, particular regarding Mastodon. A new SOAD album would be nice but I dunno if that will ever happen.....Scars On Broadway is the next best thing....

Well it has to be better than the last album! That definitely was a disappointment. But if the new album doesn't hit the mark it proves that Tate wasn't the only problem so they have to deliver. I just wonder if they might try too hard to sound like they did 25 years ago......it will be interesting to see.

Oh yes, tomorrow's gonna be a good day, a lot of new music to listen to...
