The board started to spiral downward after Foxilipsus (remember him?) closed his account and requested all of his threads regarding his progressive sexuality be removed. Also, many decent posters stopped posting and moved on while more trolls registered to do what trolls do best. :2 cents:

He's still peddling his brand of sugary crap on the net...He split his name into 2 parts, but it's him.
I remember the "gooder" discussions that went on n those days, but much crap even without the flaming silliness.
Whatever...I occasionally have fun chatting with some people, but it's the cool OCSMs that make it really fun.
One whose initials are Lucy OHara comes to mind, but there are others.
I even like SOME of the admin (MS Petra who must be worshipped) and the shadowy admin-types (once a Marine, always a Marine) who may be un-admin now but never really are.

I figure I've been a somewhat solid part of four internet communities now, this being one of them. Sometimes it is the board (yes, the lack of moderation did get old), and sometimes life gets in the way (marathons and such). And while it might not be someone's piece of cake now, these are the good old days to other members. It's all about perception.

Thanks to everyone who contributed.
To sum up:
1. This is largely just a generational thing, with several "old timers" missing contributors and OCSM's who have moved on, and waxing a bit nostalgic from time to time.
2. People aren't the only things that change. Changes to the Talk Section have something to do with it, specifically splitting it into several sections. The porn industry has also changed drastically in the last five years.
3. Expectations are key. Those interested in porn only may not care much for the Talk section. The Board includes both, so don't judge the whole based on a part.
4. People have different ideas about what Talk "should be," and what constitutes good and productive debate.
5. There seems to be a general (but by no means universal) agreement that relaxing the rules had some negative effects, specifically the tolerance of trolls. Quite a few people seem to appreciate that *some* steps have recently been taken to rid the Board of some perennial bad apples. Clearly, exhorting people to be adults (as in, "Just don't click on topics you are offended by.") hasn't worked.
6. "Quit 'yer bitchin already!" should be the battle cry when people who are normally decent contributors are having a shitty day and decide to take it out on the entire Board by proclaiming "this place sucks."
As regards #5, I would simply like to add that I myself was banned from a different online adult forum (that shall remain nameless) earlier this year by what I judged to be a capricious and intolerant moderator. I had the impression at the time that that community was in the throes of cracking down on the 'poison pill' types, most likely because they were losing members amid all the animosity. I commented in one pornstar's thread that there had been a lot of idiots saying insulting things lately, and my comment was redacted. The reason given was that they wanted to foster a "positive" environment, to which I responded that my comment was pretty innocuous in comparison to most the truly insulting things that had been said - and allowed to remain - lately, that I hadn't even singled anyone out and that I thought they were overreacting a little. And for this I was banned with no additional comment or notification, and no appeals allowed. I didn't know I had been banned until I tried unsuccessfully to log in, and just happened to reload the last thread I had posted in to see "Account Deactivated" next to my name.
So while I'm with those of you who feel some discretion needs to be exercised by mods to rid the Board of its Sam Fisher's, I sincerely hope FO doesn't turn into a Police State with zero tolerance for any sort of disagreement. If that happens, this place really will suck.

I kind of agree, but to be honest. I think that half of the threads currently on the front page of talk section should be in other sections like fetish and stuff or something where ppl just share pictures etc...

i think Freeones Talk should be to talk about everything, but 95% of the posts are about porn! no posts where everyone could talk and have nice debates... just "who did you cum to?", "who's the last pornstar you jacked off to?", "ebonies or pale skin?"... shit like that.... but hey, it's a forum from a Porn Site... shouldn't expect more of that...
