The Matrix is obviously on there because action movies today are still following its lead.

Jurassic Park still actually looks pretty good (compared to other movies made after it) especially considering it was released in '93.

Lord of the Rings set the standard for making a battle of thousands upon thousands of people (and creatures in its case) look convincing and just plain epic

Those were my three.

I can't believe you put Emmerich on this list. He's just as bad as Michael Bay... ugh I just wanna puke now

"The Matrix" was the most revolutionary overall.

"2001: A Space Odyssey" (In it's day....)
"Jurassic Park"
(Other) "Tron"

The Matrix: DJCowboy is right. Say what you will about it, but imitation is still the sincerest form of flattery.

Lord of the Rings: Revolutionary simply for shooting three movies of that scale simultaneously.

Alien: Completely shattered the lines between action, thriller, horror, & sci-fi. Again, frequently imitated, never matched.

I think the best would be the Terminator series simply for T2, when the cop would turn to liquid metal...that was pretty damn cool. :banger:

Most revolutionary: I don't know, but I like King Kong so I am going to say that.

And my favorite would be mostly the Alien series.......mostly.

My favorite... Chronicles Of Riddick. Everything is so smooth looking in that movie, it's the closest I've seen to realism yet, outside of a couple video games.

Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker!
Gotta go with Terminator 2.

Side note: The SFX that were added in the special editions of Star Wars IV, V, and VI kinda ruined the magic for me, and the FX in the prequels looked a little too artifical to me, too.

Star Wars episode 4 was one those movies that when it first came out just blew people away. Now everything is done by computers and it is so much easier to do a special effect scene now.

The Beyond...those mechanical spiders ruled.

The original Star Wars - for being made in 1977, it still stands the test of time for special effects wizardry. IMO.
