It's January and we've survived the holidays over here at FreeOnes as well as AVN last week (myself and one of the developers went). So between the holidays and having to go to the states for a week, there wasn't a lot of rapid development but we have gotten some big things completed over at www.freeones.vg!

- added a 3rd, part time developer to the team. He'll be full time in April!

- updating and optimizing the filter on the babe's page. You can now filter based on their career status (active, retired, deceased, unknown), date of death, bra size.

- we have added more providers into the cam section. Hopefully this week we'll have FreeOnes Cams available as well as XLove Cams for the frenchies out there. The filter is also working great and you'll be able to find that special cam girl you're looking for!

- another big new feature was added that the current site doesn't have. Site Channels! Where babe sections have all the content she's shot, Channels are all about the site. So if you're a fan of Jules Jordan, Mr. Skin or one of the other hundreds of sites FreeOnes works with, you'll be able to go and see what they have been shooting. There are a few bugs that I'm hoping are addressed this week so we can work on getting some channels added and then make it public for your wanking pleasure.

- we're still working on ranking. Unsurprising it's a HUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGEEEEE deal and there is a shit ton of data already stored. So the devs are working with the infrastructure guys to figure out the best way to migrate the old data to the new site, in this decade (we're not starting at 0 so no hard work will be erased). Once that's done, then we can start creating the code for the new ranking system that will be faster, fresher and encompass loads more things to encourage loads of content and activity from the OCSMs! Hopefully this will be fully up and running by the end of Q1...

Yes, but that won't come until a bit later. First we have to build out the credit system on the new site and then we'll decide how we want to do the store (there will be both credit and CC purchase this time around).

I take a sneak peek to the new site..it seems really good! Will be the board the same as it's now or you will make changes also there?

Firstly, I've been checking out the Beta for awhile now and I like it! Particularly that images are now treated more or less the same as video (searchable, sortable) and all the new search features! The multiple tag selection is excellent!

I noticed that the new URL structure for video pages is different. The old: freeones.com/<a-z>_babes/<model name>/######/(<-sometimes there are two of those) and the new seems to be using a GUID: freeones.vg/<model name>/video/<long alpha-numeric string>.

Will you be able to add a link redirect handler for all the old video links to map to the new site? I think there are quite few bookmarks and links pointing to the old URLs that would be unpleasant to break.

Since our goal is to switch the front end from the current site to the new by August, we haven't even been talking about the board. Currently it's fairly stable and doesn't have many huge issues cropping up so it can stay where it is for the time being. I'm personally all for moving to software that's actually getting new features and being supported (vbulletin hasn't put out more than security dates for the actual board software in years, they're 100% focused on the social network part of the software) or even thinking about building something ourselves that's more modern and integrates well with the new site.

Unfortunately, we need to focus on the things that pay the server bills (and with a site like FreeOnes, that's not cheap) first. However, as soon as I know more of what our plan is for the board I'll make sure to mention it!

I'm so glad you're liking the search! And one of the features that is on the list is to allow users to suggest tags for babes, photos, videos, links, channels, etc so we can get them properly tagged out and make the search even better. We have a few ideas on how to implement machine learning + some sort of user score to help moderate and make things get approved faster. So as a tech geek, that thought kind of makes my panties damp.

As for the links... whew. I can probably write a whole series of blog posts on the linking alone.

The short answer is currently we have no fucking clue on how we're going to handle the links yet. I'm a pretty smart gal and have become pretty good at SEO (search engine optimization... it's what helps get us noticed by the search engines for those of you who aren't into marketing or site building). Normally a website will put a 301 redirect on pages that move to another link. Just like countless others I've done this to pages on FreeOnes when say, one babe section gets merged into another. I've done it with my own websites... recently with a tgirl directory site I run when I moved the girls from the old directory format to a new directory. Everything was peachy.

However, I have absolutely no idea what's going to happen to us with all of the search engines if we 301 almost 50,000 pages. My gut feeling is we'll get punished pretty badly. So we're talking to people who are much more knowledgeable about this kind of thing on this large of a scale so we can put an action plan together for when we change .com from the old site to the new.

I know we don't talk about the operation of FreeOnes very much because it's kind of a bummer and ruins the fantasy of all this free porn... but all this free porn leads to people finding us and actually pulling some money out of their wallets which leads to us being able to pay for the site you love. Out of all the things we're doing, I'll freely admit, the linking situation scares the holy living shit out of me because I'm fully aware of the consequences if we get it wrong.

I really fucking hate that the search engines have us by the proverbial balls.

I don't see a way to add galleries to my account or babes to my faves on the new site. While I do like it better otherwise, to me those are two of the biggest reasons I use freeones as opposed to going elsewhere. Not a heavy user forum user, obviously, but this has been my site of choice since the beginning of 2011.


Oh and if you are adding that fake tits filter, it would be awesome if it was able to sort by galleries as opposed to babes. There are some models in my faves that are there purely because I can look at galleries from before they got their fakes.

They say patience is a virtue.

Today we should be releasing the "follow" function on babes (this is favorites on the current site). Next we'll be doing "Add to Collections" which is the gallery favorite and then a few weeks down the line we'll have an "add to playlist" functionality for videos. So it's coming!

And we'll be tagging individual photos and videos so we should be able to tag galleries before they got their boob jobs as "natural tits". We just will probably need the community's help since that logic doesn't exist on the current site.
