Heh heh.. tell us how that goes when you DO upgrade to Vista. My ex gf bought a new PC with vista.. home... basic. For a while after the breakup she kept calling me, asking me if she should allow this? Allow that? Is this harmful? WHY WONT IT PRINT?!? MAKE IT WORK!!

I just laugh. Shouldve stuck with XP. She still didnt know how to do most anything thru XP, but at least she was comfortable with what she did know.. and it worked without any snags.

Nothing's wrong with Vista. It's just...different. It takes getting used to. If I recall, XP was the same as Vista is now when it came out. Why? It takes time to get rid of bugs. There's no way that Microsoft or anyone else can test every variable, so people have to use it for awhile and tell them what's wrong with their specs. Besides, most people I've heard haven't used it, so don't trust the common opinion.

Either way, Ubuntu FTW.

I would run Vista if my computer had 4gigs of RAM, a 120gig harddrive, and a GeForce 8800GTX

My old desktop, a 128mb GeForce 6600GT w/ a P4 Northwood 2.53ghz and 1gig of RAM slowed to a crawl with Vista installed. My laptop is similar, but it has a Intel Core Duo and a GeForce Go 7300. I figure it would be just as slow.


I will wait until I have a supercomputer, and a ton of DX10 games before I move over to Vista.

Uh .... no. NOT EVERYONE.

I'm running Vista Ultimate right now on a brand new HP with 4 GB of memory (NO, it doesn't require 4 gigs ... requires 512K - 1 GB ... same as XP). Haven't had a problem with it from day one.

Easy, simple to use ... almost a Microsoft wannabe version of OS X.
