What Kind Of Coffee Maker Do You Have At Home?

I'm still using this cheap, 6 cup thing called a GeValia (or something like that) that I've had for about 15 years. All I can say about it is that it works (barely) - though it's nothing to brag about. Someone gave me a programmable Black & Decker 12 cup last Christmas, but I still haven't read the directions or started using it. I agree that old fashioned percolators make the best coffee though. If I wasn't so lazy on weekends, I'd grind my own beans and use a percolator. Put a little goat milk creamer in that bad boy and hmmmmmmmm!!! :drool2:

That is the one drawback with the percolator, especially, for me, cleaning it.
Also I read other posts about rusting plates. My job and a few friends has coffee makers from Bunn and those do not seem to have that issue.

Ah no, the goat milk creamer comes after (in the coffee cup). But I guess in an espresso maker, that would work. I got one of those for Christmas three or four years ago too... used it once and got too lazy to clean it, so it just sets on the counter.

No, I only have that one because it's my boyfriend's. Back in PA, I used a Keurig, or a regular, standard coffee brewer at work. I've used all sorts of machines and made all different types of coffee (iced, blended, different flavors, etc.) and none are as good as the stuff at Starbucks or the frappes at McDonalds.
The machine we have here is super strong, so I don't use it. Icky strong coffee.

Mm. Starbucks frappiccinos are really good. It's actually not tough to make something similar. You want (appropriately enough) really strong coffee. You do about half coffee, 1/4 cream and 1/4 condensed milk (for the thickness and sweetness) and add some vanilla (well, I like vanilla... YMMV). Shake and pour over ice. Works pretty well for me anyway. :dunno:

I don't think that would work. I've never tried it, but espresso machines get the water very hot, and involve forcing the water through very fine filters at high pressure. I think you'd just have the water mostly boiling off the milk and you'd end up with all the butterfat just kind of baking onto and crusting the inside of the machine. It's bad enough cleaning the milk off the steamer and the lime and calcium scale out of the thing's innards. I'd hate to think what milk would be like in there... :(

My espresso/cappuccino maker has a milk frother, or whatever the correct term is. I do wonder what the goat milk would taste like "frothed"... maybe I'll try it one of these days - when I'm in the mood to do some cleaning and washing. Let's shoot for 2019.

Holy fuck, get over yourselves. It's coffee.

Yeah? You wouldn't be saying that to me, before I've had my coffee...

I used to have a standard drip coffee machine but no matter how many times I cleaned it, the coffee kept coming out tasting disgusting. Ever since I bough my Keurig single cup brewer, I get a perfect cup of coffee every time. Plus, I don't have to worry about cleaning it every time after a brew

I used to fill the decanter with white vinegar and pour it into the coffee maker. Run the coffee maker. Then cycle twice the same way but with water. That use to work for me.

Heh - I know, I know. I was only joking.

I wouldn't mess with anyone before they've had their coffee. :D

Actually, I'm pretty good...but it's a great excuse to be a total dick! :D

It's been years since I drank coffee. I do need to get one of those quick electric water heaters for the occasional tea I have.
