What Is Courage?

I just started re-watching the HBO miniseries Premium Link Upgrade which I have on DVD. I've seen it before, of course, but this time it really affected me. Sure, in terms of events in today's political spectrum one might think I was biased. But then I got to thinking: here were these men in the 101st Airborne. They put their lives on the line every day, and wouldn't think twice to jeopardize their lives for their fellow soldiers. They weren't movie stars or pro athletes...they were men who REALLY meant something. Heroes, you could say. In some ways I felt ashamed. I felt that I wasn't worthy to even watch a series that had actors portraying these demigods. Then I saw the actual soldiers themselves--much older, of course--describing to us clueless few the events to which we'd all be honored to witness. That's when I decided to start this thread. What is courage? Let all of us know. Tell us the stories from your own families, or stories you've heard, or just your own ideas about what courage is. Maybe it will enlighten us all.
