It's just like being stranded at home only their isn't as much space, no televison, no food, your with hundreds of other people you don't like, and you have to fight to get a chance to use the bathroom. Why would anybody not enjoy that? :1orglaugh

Sorry, but there's no way they'd keep me on a plane with my screaming kids for 11 hours... let alone a 100+ other people with kids.
If it means I had to either start screaming and hitting myself like Rainman or scream "BOMB!!" my threshold for that would probably not even make it to 1/3 of that time.
Good to know though... I will NEVER fly JetBlue. But they do have TV's in the headrests... that's more than Southwest.
I saw this the other day. I've had to sit on a plane at Newark airport for like 5hrs once, waiting in line to take off and that was hell. Fortunately I was exhausted from a transatlantic flight and was knocked out asleep for a good bit of that time. But seriously, after 8hrs I would've got off that plane (probably wouldnt have made it that long) even if it meant opening the emergency exit door with the slides and sliding down to freedom; and I would've dared somebody to try and stop me.
Being trapped in a terminal in the airport for that long would be bad. But I can't imagine sitting in an airplane for that many hours right outside the gate.

Well, it depends. If they left the gate and were on the taxiway (which I think was the case), then they would've had to taxi back to the gate, which is not always so easy. Especially in big city airports with a lot of traffic. If they were sitting at the gate the whole time then I cant imagine why they wouldn't have delayed the flight and let everyone off the plane. What they should've done was delayed the flight "before hand" if they knew there were going to be long waits.
But seriously, Im fed up with NYC airports. The last few times I've flown into NY it's been a major headache with the wait times. It's like if you dont get in and out of there before 9-10am your fucked.
If flights weren't going out then there probably wasn't a whole lot of traffic. Plus, they don't have to go all the way back to the terminal. They have stairs they can roll up to the plane just to get people of the plane and shuffle them inside... anything is better than being stuck on the plane for that long.
